New Friends
Kaylie Stevens
A beam of sunlight entered my room through the blinds of my window. I lay in a tank top and puppy dog pajama pants in my bed. I take a peek at my room, only one eye slightly opening.
The walls of my room were white with black spots on them and very light pink flowers in between each small black spots.
I shut my eyes again and sleep for a good minute or so, before my alarm from my phone goes off. I check the time. 6:40. Great.I groggily get from my bed, and turn off my alarm. I stretch for a while before yawning and heading towards the bathroom.
I take a look at myself in the mirror. My name is Kaylie Stevens, I'm sixteen years old and am attending a new school.
Even though I have been moving schools a lot, this is the first school I will be staying at! I splash cold water on my face to wake myself up. Physically and mentally.
My hair is dark brown but I had dyed some of my hair to make it look like a dark brown fading to a purple color.
Two strands of my hair is dyed completely purple. I did this for two reasons. 1, because I like purple, and 2, so no one will notice my skin.My mom is white and my dad is black and Mexican. I am mixed of course, but I have a skin condition. I have vitiligo, and found out 7 years ago.
I was bullied a lot for it too, so I always wore long sleeved clothing. But today's the day that will change!I find a towel and take a shower. Once I'm done, I dry myself off, and put on a hot pink short-sleeve shirt, a black skirt, some black socks, and some pink high top Converse.
Once I have my clothes on, look in the mirror, brush my hair, put on some mascara, a light color of lip gloss, grab my phone, and go to the kitchen to eat breakfast.
Once I get to the kitchen, I see my dad already waiting there for me. "Good morning, honey! " He says to me. "I hope you enjoy breakfast and school, I'll see you after sweetie pie". My dad kisses my forehead, and heads out the door for work.
My mom walks over to the table. " Morning. I've put your stuff by the door for school, have a day." She said to me bluntly. My mom is a person of few words. Even though she may seem cold, she is super sweet.
My mom walks away from the table and heads our the door for work. "Bye! " I call out to her. I finish up my breakfast and start walking towards the door for my stuff. I see my bag, water bottle and... a visor.
I hate wearing that visor, not only my mom forces me to wear it, but it's uncomfortable. I mentally groan in my head. "Stupid always wants me to wear a visor" I mumbled under my breath. Nevertheless, I put on my visor, my backpack, put my water bottle on the side, and head out the door, locking it with my key.Once I'm out the door I start walking towards the school, which isn't far at all.

.Once I get there, there's a huge crowd of kids from where I am all the to the front doors. "Excuse me! Sorry! Pardon me! " I say as I push through the mixed crowd of kids. As I'm walking I feel someone bump into me.
I look down and see a short boy with purple hair, and light purple tips to the ends of his slightly curled hair. His eyes were purple as well too. He wore a white shirt with black shorts, with a chain at the side with a clip. His shoes were purple vans with white parts and had purple and white checkered socks.
