San Francisco . 8:25 PM.  6.13.22 .

| LONDON'S APARTMENT . |

It was almost time for the game and not gonna lie I was excited. It was gonna be doves first time at a NBA game. Unfortunately she couldn't experience it with mom. I love my mom I really do.. but she can be a deadbeat.. she's been like that ever since our dad passed. I've done everything for dove. When our dad passed away I was  19 going on 20 and dove was 2. Mom and our dad were toxic. Our father beat on her and cheated multiple times, but she would wash the pain by drinking. She always went back to him, one time She was drunk, and I saw her bad condition, I asked her why she always went back to dad when he treated her this way  her response was, "cause someone needs to take care of y'all and I'm not gon do it".

I was literally shocked.. but if you thought our father passing away was gonna make things easier for her it only got worse, Drugs.  There were so many issues with my mother.

I remember the conversation after she told me she was pregnant.

2020.

"Mom I don't think you should have the baby.. you see the bad condition you're in?" I said after hearing her news.

"London i don't care what you think.. I will get Better, I promise you, no more drugs and drinking. I'll be better, I- I'll do better." She responded.

"Do you promise?" I said tearing up.

"Pinky promise." She said holding out her pinkie.

She didn't keep her promises she never did.

Even tho she wasn't always perfect, I loved my mother. It was hard for me to hate her forever.

But this year after I visited and told her i was moving to San Francisco she recommended dove move with me.

I asked her why and she said she found someone, and they don't like kids.

I damn near lashed out on her.

"What the hell  do you mean you found someone??"

"Listen his name is Jacob and he makes me happy.. you want me to be happy don't you? She doesn't have to stay with you for ever.. I just want this relationship to work out."

I scoffed at her response.

"So your kids don't make you happy?"

"Y'all do but it's a different happy. I feel safe, and that I could be my true self with him.."

"And what's your true self? A damn deadbeat and drug addict? Yea mom I'm sure he will love that."

"London watch your damn tone with me."

" you know what. Yea I'll take her, cause I've been parenting her better than you have."

I said grabbing my stuff leaving.

Luckily dove wasn't home during the argument.
I could never tell her that our mother basically abandoned her for a man named Jacob.

After this argument my Mom texted me 2 days later as if she couldn't remember it, and I'm sure she didn't.

I sat in my thoughts not even realizing it was almost time to go.

"Lonny? LONNY!" I snapped out of my thought seeing me and lani's other best friends in front of me.
