{Valentine's Day}
~Tomoeda Junior High~
Rika stopped by her locker as she made her way to the classroom, and when she opened it, a red envelope fell out.
Rika: *Picks it up* What's this? *Opens it and pulls out...* This looks like a poem.
"Dearest Rika,
A rose would've been my gift to you,
But I could find one as sweet.
I thought of giving you chocolates,
But it's only something to eat.
This idea dawned upon me,
Similar to the rising sun.
I want to keep a memento,
To know you're my only one.
This comes from my heart,
So don't shut me out.
I'll pour out my soul,
You'll know what I'm about.
Many couples rejoice,
On this special day.
So be on the lookout,
There's more on the way.
Yours truly, Kai"
Rika: *Amazed* Wow. Who knew Kai had so much talent in him? *Heads towards the classroom*
~Classroom~
Masaru and a nervous Kai were waiting for Rika to arrive. Masaru didn't notice Kai's behavior until Kai started muttering.
Masaru: Is there a problem?
Kai: ... No... I'm just having some... bad memories
Masaru: Oh. You're thinking about her?
Kai: ... *Nods* It never leaves me.
*Flashback*
{Around after the events of the second CCS movie}
It was nearing the end of the school year, and Kai was planning on giving a poem to a friend that he secretly fell in love with: Noriko Ueno. She had a way to hold herself in crowds, to give out presentations, and how she dresses with a different outfit every day. Kai placed his poem in her desk without Noriko noticing. When Noriko open her desk, she saw the poem, and grab it, but when she read only the first few lines, she burst out in laughter. Later on, she proceeds to show it to her friends, who also thought it was corny. Unbeknownst to her, the more she showed it, the bigger Kai's pain grew. Eventually, it was replaced with anger, with Kai vowing to never write another poem, or fall for another girl ever again.
*Flashback ends*
Kai: I thought she was our friend. Instead, she thought my writing was corny.
Masaru: That's when you slugged her, right?
