"I told you not to touch it," he snapped.

"No, you said not to grab it. That's completely different."

"First of all, no it isn't. Secondly, we have no idea where we are now thanks to you. Well, I guess all we can do is keep moving. Who knows, maybe it came here with us and we just have to find it.

Some time goes by.

"Why do all these stones look so blocky? And what's with all these rectangular holes in them?"

"Nevermind that. Are you seeing these things running around right now?"

"You're right. They sure are little things. I don't think I would've noticed them if you hadn't pointed them out. Is it just me or are they looking at us funny?"

"Now that you mention it, I think they are. Wait, can you hear that?"

"Hear what?"

"It almost sounds like screaming."

"Oh, yeah. Are they doing it?"

"I think so."

"Weird. How come?"

"Maybe it has something to do with us?"

"Us? But we're only standing here. Wait, do you see that? These things are riding in moving metal containers."

"Well, they don't seem very good at it. They keep crashing into each other."

"Holy shit. Some of them just caught fire. Bit of a design flaw if you ask me. I guess they aren't as advanced as we are."

"Clearly not if this is how they're reacting to us. Do you think they're good for anything?"

"I don't know. Let me grab one and check."

Crunch

"Yuck. That's awful. Their bones are on the inside."

"On the inside? What sense does that make?"

"It seems that evolution did not deal a great hand to these unfortunate bipedals. I do like those furry four-legged animals by them, though. They look cute and they aren't screaming at us."

"Well, whatever. Let's find it and get out of here."

The two walk. Each step they take, makes the shrieking grow louder. Around them, the stones start crumbling.

"Not as durable as they appear."

"Clearly not. Wait. I see it over there, in the water."

"Good thing this place is so small. Otherwise, we may have been here a while trying to find it."

"Weird. I feel kind of itchy all of the sudden."

"Now that you mention it, so do I. What could be causing it?"

"Hang on. I think it's them again. Now they're in flying metal containers."

"They need them to fly? Poor bastards. Actually, do you just go ahead and do that? I mean, don't get me wrong, walking is good exercise and all, but this place is getting on my nerves."

"Yeah, especially with them shooting at us. I mean, it's not doing anything to use. It's just annoying."

A single flap of their wings blows away their nuisances, leaving nothing but burnt twisted metal and charred broken bodies.

"We got it. Now, this time be careful with it, or else we might end up somewhere dangerous."

"Relax. I won't make the same mistake again. Wait, do you see that in the sky?"

Several bright flashes wash over the two. When it clears, the stones are burning with their inhabitants either dead or crawling weakly on the ground.

"Huh. Weird."

The crystal they grab envelops them in purple light and when it's gone, so are they. Across the planet they visited, structures have crumbled to dust. Every person who saw them is either shrieking or laughing while clawing out their own eyes. Those still alive dare not venture outside.
