'Wartime epidemic diseases have decimated the fighting strength of armies, caused the suspension and cancellation of military operations, and brought havoc to the civil populations of belligerent and nonbelligerent states.'

Since Seonghwa's latest mission, army had become more cautious about the missions it prepared for it's soldiers while most of their energy was spending on controlling the disease and the rumors and finding the operatives behind it.
Ever since Seonghwa had told San the details of that five months and what he had seen, San couldn't help but have his doubts.
It wasn't very thoughtful of army to wastage it's forces by sending one of it's top units for a field investigation for a "possible threat" in the first place.

"Major Choi! Over here!"

And here he was, with his unit fully armed, wandering for couple of days just to follow the traces of some missing civilians in a war-struck city.

A few people were busy removing the debris and gradually San was able to recognize some colorful large chests as if they were screaming to be found.
He signaled that no one should move.
He slowly walked to the chests. They were big enough to fit a person inside.
San took a pebble and threw it at one of the chests.
Nothing.

"What should we do with them, major?" Captain Ryu murmured.

The city they were in had been attacked by northerners a few months ago, the survivors had gone to the nearby cities at that time and almost as far as the eye could see, there was no sign of living.
Even a toddler could notice that it was a trap. Whatever was in those chests, whether it was southern civilians, a bomb or a poisonous gas;  Opening it there by Unit-1 was something that was expected, and this could be from those who left those chests there or from those who sent unit-1 to find them.

"We will take them with us." San responded.

"Get the cars ready! We're going back!" He ordered as his eyes were locked on the chests.
