An answer (Melanie's POV)

After he stammered through his question, I swear I felt like I was going to explode. What the fuck was I supposed to say?! I really liked him. Should I just nod, say yes, or what? I was freaking out, and running out of time. So, I gave him an answer.

I stopped walking, making him stop as well, and I turned to face him. Then my mind went blank. Come on Melanie Heart! You did NOT just defeat an evil alien trying to conquer the universe one planet at a time, JUST SO YOU COULD BE FUCKED UP BY SOME GUY! So, I did the next most rational thing, and took a step closer to him. By then, I wasn't even thinking anymore.
I stepped forward again, so I was leaning against him.
By then, I think he got the idea, because he started leaning in. And then we made contact. It felt like fireworks. But, of course, all good things have to come to an end. And this ending was quite shocking.

So, you remember when Captain Lightspeed accidentally gave Dr. Arcannis the idea of extracting powers from his kids? Well, turns out, he did have kids of his own.
And they were rotten.
And had powers.
He left his wife, not knowing she was pregnant, to start trying to finish what his father started. Ruling the universe. But, now he's dead. And now, he has octuplets. Scary, right? Even scarier, they have way more powers than the triplets. And they were older. They were Reid and my age. Worst of all, these kids had found us.
