Time flew by, Rose remained oblivious as she delved into her fantasy books. Outside her room, her friends were already knocking, waiting for her response. She placed her book on the nightstand and called out, "Come in."

In walked her friends Elle and Felix. Elle, her friend since 5th grade, was the quintessential nerd, steering clear of drama and parties. Shorter than Rose, she was known for her studious nature. Felix, also known as Lix, was a confident party-goer, towering over both Rose and Elle. His smile was as warm as morning sunshine, capable of brightening anyone's day. Rose, despite being irked by Felix's nickname "Caramel," forgave him instantly at the sight of his infectious grin.

"Hey Caramel," Lix greeted with a smile. Rose responded, "Hello Lix and Elle."

"Let's dive into our project report now so we can have some free time later," Elle suggested without delay.

"Classic Elle," Felix whispered under his breath.

They began their work, interrupted occasionally by snacks provided by Rose's mother.

"Ah, finally done!" Felix exclaimed, flopping onto Rose's bed.

"Yeah, but we still have to present it to the class tomorrow," Elle reminded them.

"Don't remind me. Hey Rose, what book is this?" Felix inquired, eyeing the novel on the nightstand. It was unfamiliar to him despite his familiarity with Rose's extensive collection.

"I picked up a new book this morning—it's about vampires," Rose replied, handing the book to Elle.

"But if it's based on legends, doesn't that mean there might already be an old, non-fictional book about it?" Elle pondered, looking intrigued.

"Maybe there's an old bookstore or library where we can find it," Rose mused aloud.

"I think I know a library near our school that might have what we're looking for," Felix suggested. "Shall we check it out after school?"

"Someone seems enthusiastic. Alright then, we'll go to the library after classes," Rose agreed excitedly.

After some more chatter, her friends departed. As dinner time approached, Rose joined her family in the kitchen for a meal.

"Your dad will be visiting this weekend," her mother announced, serving spaghetti.

Rose and her younger sister Sia squealed with delight.

"Does that mean Dad will spend the whole summer vacation with us?" Sia asked eagerly.

"Yes," their mother confirmed with a smile.

After dinner, Rose returned to her room, got ready for bed, and settled in. As she drifted off to sleep, one thought lingered in her mind: "What if we find that book? Could those legends be true?"

The next morning, Rose woke to her alarm, got ready, and pondered her outfit for the day. After ensuring she had everything she needed in her bag, she headed downstairs for breakfast.

Following breakfast, she and Sia headed to the car. Rose drove Sia to her school first before heading to pick up Elle for college.

Their presentation that day went smoothly, and soon their classes were over. It was the last day before summer vacation began. While most college students looked forward to parties and trips, Rose's plans revolved around books—reading them, traveling with them, and enjoying their company as if they were her closest friends.

Later in the parking lot, Rose and Elle waited for Felix, who was unusually late.

"Sorry I'm late, my friends were busy planning a party," Felix apologized as he arrived.

"Yeah, they're your priority while we're left waiting," Rose retorted, slightly annoyed.

"I said sorry, but Jack and the gang wouldn't let me leave without sorting out the plans first," Felix explained.

"Let's not quarrel. We need to get to the library before it closes at 6 pm," Elle interjected, diffusing the tension.

With Felix in the car, they set off. Within 20 minutes, they arrived at the library.

The library was a sight to behold, reminiscent of a castle built in the 19th century. Stepping inside, Rose felt transported into a royal setting straight out of movies about kings and queens. Books lined the walls in orderly fashion, giving the place an air of scholarly grandeur.

"This is the library I mentioned," Felix whispered.

"Hello there, can I assist you with something?" greeted the librarian, a woman in her late 50s, walking towards them.

"We're looking for an old book, related to supernatural legends, specifically about vampires," Rose explained with a smile.

"Oh, I know exactly what you're referring to. It's been quite some time since someone asked about that book. Follow me," the librarian replied warmly.
