Sirius's delight at having the house full again, and especially at having Harry back, was infectious. He was no longer the sullen host of the summer; now he seemed determined that they all should enjoy themselves as much, if not more, than they would have done at Hogwarts, and he worked tirelessly in the run-up to Christmas Day, cleaning and decorating with their help while playing some of the old records he had stored in his room on a silver and black record player.
Allison's mum had managed to get a day off from work a day after Hemione's and Allison's arrival, and she found her down in the kitchen with Mrs. Weasley and Tonks.
"Hello," Allison greeted her, wrapping her arms around her mother's shoulders from behind. "Missed me?"
"Yes, I missed you and your dirty laundry very terribly," She said, swaying her wand at the laundry basket on the table, wherefore a pile of Allison's jeans folded themselves nicely together.
Tonks, who had probably been confined to one of the chairs by the two women in order to not make any chaos, chuckled.
Allison dropped her arms, snatching a bottle of pumpkin juice from a shelf and peering into the basket of the freshly washed but unfolded clothes.
"Hey, where's my jersey?"
"What jersey?" Her mum asked absentmindedly, waving her wand at a pile of Hermione's shirts, which folded in the air and gently floated down onto the kitchen table again.
"My Quidditch jersey!" said Allison. "I'm temporarily playing as Seeker, I already wondered why you didn't ask me about it."
"Oh, I figured that was Harry's," Mrs. Parker said simply.
"And why would I have his Quidditch uniform in my trunk?"
She exchanged a look with Mrs. Weasley over the long table but was saved by Tonks from answering.
"You've been made Seeker?" She asked loudly, jumping up from her chair and almost throwing it over. "That's awesome!"
She came around the table to hug Allison.
"That's an appropriate reaction by the way," Allison said over Tonks' shoulder to her mum. "And not just assuming the jersey got sorted into the wrong laundry basket. Kind of sexist, isn't it?"
Mum shook her head, and Tonks made some space for her to hug Allison as well.
"That's not the reason I assumed you had it...Anyways," She raised her voice. "I'm really proud of you. Tell me again why Harry isn't playing anymore?"
"Umbridge banned him for hitting Malfoy," said Allison, leaving out Fred and George, seeing as she did not want to get them into more trouble with their mother than needed.
"Well, that's..."
"Do not say that's reasonable," Allison interrupted her.
Tonks nodded. "Because it's hitting that blonde git what's reasonable, believe me, Theresa. Banning them from Quidditch is not."
"Thank you," said Allison, and Tonks shook herself.
"Can't believe I have to call that my cousin." She made a sound as though she was about to vomit, and her hair took on a yellowish green colour.
"Your what?" Allison asked with big eyes. "How on earth...?"
"My mum and his are sisters, though they haven't spoken in ages... But still."
"My sympathies."
"Allie!" Ron called from upstairs where they were decorating the floor. "We're dying of thirst here, get on moving!"
