Fae's POV
When I was born I had so much hope for the small world I lived in, I was born in a small pack called the crescent moon pack. My father was the beta of the pack I was apart of as he was best friends with the alpha, they had grown up together and knew the other like they were brothers everything natural to them. When I was 10 we were attacked, my father dying in the war, a war my alpha had caused with the vampires. After that I was thrown aside, my mother died from the bond being broken and even though she tried to survive from it she couldn't and thus I was left alone in the world to fend for myself. I was now almost 18, almost time for me to shift and meet my mate. The alphas yelling called me out of my daydream.
"Fae" Alpha Xander yelled at me, his alpha energy causing my knees to go weak and submit choking my neck to the side showing my submission.
"Y-yes A-alpha" I replied stuttering. Me and this stupid stutter was going to get me killed.
"Come here" he gestured a finger and did a come here motion. I stood up and walked over to him focusing my eyes on the ground twisting my thumbs around each other. I could hear the alpha sigh.
"You need to stop this daydreaming of yours, it will get you killed one day. I called you multiple times and you didn't hear me at all." I looked up at the Alpha, he was like my second father but he was harsh on me, he expected a lot from me in the future praying I was the mate of his son Xavier.
"Sorry alpha" I reply looking at him, his eyes softened. He reached up softly touching my face.
"Fae I need you to listen to me, this week we are having the annual alpha ball. You know what this means, there will be lots of unmated males looking for their true mate or for someone who will be good enough to be future Luna. I need you to do two things for me." I nodded at him and this was deemed a good enough answer for the alpha.
"I need you to stay with Xavier the whole time, I don't need any unmated wolves trying to claim you. Secondly I need you to behave yourself, please. Stay focused and no daydreaming." Xander finished.
"Yes alpha, I will behave myself and be a good girl." I replied, with this he pat my head and walked away. It was only 3 days until the ball and I knew I had nothing nice to wear, nothing that would compete with the other unmated shewolves. I walked slowly to the pack house wondering if Xander would be able to help me with this, we had been best friends since childhood hence why the Alpha wanted us to be true mates. I get to my room and mind link Xander so he come to my room, what I was lazy.
"You know he isn't our mate don't you" my wolf nyx told me.
I know but I can at least hope, you know how we fit each other nyx. If I can't find our true mate at least we will be happy and looked after.
She purred and that was all I got for an answer the connection was cut off giving me and Xander privacy as he knocked on the door. Without answering he walked in like usual. Jumping off the bed I watch as he walks over to me, taking my hand in his kissing the hand. It wasn't like what you felt with true mates but it was nice.
"Yes Fae, you called me" he smiles at me and sits down beside me. I quickly turn to him a big smile on my face.
"I-I" I stuttered again, this curse of mine I hated so much.
"I. I don't have a d-dress to wear." I looked down at my hands, this was normal for me avoiding gazes when I can. I didn't like looking into the eyes it was like looking into their soul.
"That's okay Fae, mum picked a few out for you already. She will show them to you on the day" he replied swiftly, still holding my hand in his. I could feel my hand getting sweaty holding his. Sanders hand was the same getting sweaty as well and with that he released my hand and pushed it through his hair. I smiled at him softly knowing the dresses would be perfect.
"Okay" I replied and he stood up.
"It's time for me to go, Alpha jr duties" he chuckled and left my room leaving me alone.

Today was the day of the alpha ball and I sat in the shower letting water drip down onto my bare shoulders. The worst part was it was also my 18th birthday, that would make sense why the alpha wanted Xander and I to stay together. I was finally 18, I breathed out a sigh. This was good and bad, today I would find out if we were actually mates or not. I felt awfully hot today, the cold water somewhat cooling down my skin but not down below in my core. I shook the feeling away it didn't make sense to me. I swiftly got out the shower and walked into my room only to be shocked the Luna was there.
"O-oh my gosh, Luna Daetri! I apologise for my a-attire." I pull the towel up a bit higher and blush.
"Oh don't worry my sweet I brought up the dresses I chose for you." She walks over to me and pulls me into a bone crushing hug.
"Happy birthday my sweet" she whisperes into my ear. "Finally 18, hopefully we will find out if Xander is your true mate. I look at her and give her a small smile. My stomach was doing flips, everything on high alert. I watch as she pulls out a red dress that looked like it will be snug on my body. I had natural strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes, I was pretty curvy I though.
"I picked this out just for you and your special day." She had the biggest smile on her face. I could tell she loved me as a mother loved a daughter she never had.
"But for now rest, the ball is tonight and you should be well rested for it. A maid will come help you get dressed when it is closer to the ball." She kissed me briefly on the check and walked away leaving me to my lonelyness, the last thing I wanted.
