I felt good. I just beat someone's ass in Minecraft hunger games and was revelling in my victory. Unfortunately, when I checked the clock, it was time to go. Not that I don't like my job, but it kind of sucks selling video games when you'd much rather be playing them.
I reached work within a couple of minutes and quickly shed my jacket. Cass was already there, stood behind the counter with a fake smile on her face. I realised she was aching for a game too, and would really rather to not have to deal with the current customer. He seemed like a stubborn bastard, but he was kinda aesthetically appealing, I guess.
I tapped Cass on the shoulder and she turned round, relief evident on her face.
"Uh, Ness, I need to go grab some stock. Can you sort this guy out please?"
I nodded and she smiled gratefully.
"I ordered a custom Xbox controller..."
"Any specific details?"
"It has gold flame decals."
"Okay. Just one second."
I sifted through the boxes under the counter, eventually finding the one that read "Xbox controller-black. G.Flame decal."
As I passed it over he glanced down at my wrist. I chose to ignore it, but while he gave me the money, his gaze lingered even longer.
"Anything else?"
That seemed to shake him from his reverie. "Nope." He looked at my wrist again. Finally, I realised why. I have two tattoos on my wrist, one reading "Ness" in morse code, the other showing my gamer tag.
They looked kinda like this:
-. . ... ...
LochNessa"Loch...Nessa?"
I flushed slightly. Although it was public, I didn't really like people paying attention to my tattoo.
"Oh. Um... It's my gamer tag."
"Huh. Just I thought I was playing someone with a gamer tag like that in Minecraft earlier. Hunger games..."
I grinned. "Oh, are you the person who's ass I beat?"
"If you want to put it like that. I'm Thomas. Uh, MLThomas in Xbox live."
"What an original name. You're kinda shit at Minecraft, by the way."
"Shut the fuck up. Just because you won..." His eyes passed over my wrist again. "...Ness"
I felt my brow crinkle a bit. "You know Morse code?"
"Just a little bit. You've been tapping out S.O.S for a while now. I don't think your friend heard you though..."
God fucking dammit.
Just a short one. I had the idea of the tattoos, and just wanted to write a bit of that out. So, here you go... Peace out guys - CranberryJam
