Chapter 1

"Hurry up Abby I want to see the body!" I heard Jakes voice say from behind me. "I'm not that strong you know! Maybe you could... Oh I don't know.. HELP!" I barked. He raised his hands above his head in surrender. "Jeez Abby! Fine!" He whimpered. He kicked the boards and they crumbled to the floor. "Wow. I guess thirty YEARS have not been kind to this place." I mumbled looking inside.
I put my foot inside and heard something scurry across the floor. I screamed jumping back outside. "Come on scaredy cat. Just go in!" Jake mumbled then shoved me in.
He then started to tell me the story of the allegedly 'haunted' library. "One day, in 1985, local librarian Sherry Hark mysteriously went MISSING. She was a librarian but also made most of the books in this library. Rumor spread the town that she was murdered. And that the one who killed her stuffed her either underground or... Somewhere in the walls of the library."
I turned around to look at him with a smile on my face. I thought he was trying to scare me but my smile slowly turned to horror when I saw that his face, was absolutely serious. Not a trace of humor. "But. Some people have another idea of what happened to poor old Mrs. Hark."
He circled around me touching my shoulder. "They say she lost her mind. She was cooped up in this library for almost her entire life. She only came out once or twice a month. And then not at all. The first to notice was her neighbor Ginger Marywood's daughter Auburn Marywood. Auburn had come to get a book for school when she saw Mrs. Hark's glasses shattered on the floor, and her pen dripping ink on the floor."
He stopped talking for a moment, and then I heard footsteps. I saw bright light and then silence. "J-Jake? This isn't funny J-J-Jake!" I yelled. I tried pushing the door open but it wouldn't budge. I slid down to the floor and started to cry. I was alone, in a house, that's haunted. I saw a faint glowing from across the hall. "JAKE! I AM SO GONNA GET YOU FOR THIS!" I screamed.
I got up and ran towards the faint light. But stopped at the corner. Cautiously I peered into the room with the light. I looked around but saw no door. But in the corner of my eye, I saw a book, shattered glasses a pen and an ink stain on the floor. The book was the source of the glowing. I walked slowly towards it and looked at the writing and screamed.
'The girl looked into the book and screamed for the book was telling her fate.' But, how could that be?! This book it's it's it's... 'Telling exactly what she is about to do...' I looked at it closer and felt a push and the last thing I saw was Jake's smirking face, and then the words from the pages swirled around me making my vision nothing more than darkness.
