So this has been a theory in my head for a very long time and have been looking forward to sharing it with you guys.
So the theory is I think Magus is actually Max's grandfather or at least a relative of his. Why? Let me explain.
Unfortunately Atlatnos 2 is not in English dub completely however the first episode is in English and I watched it. I found out that Magus is a lion of royal blood and in the picture he has a crown on him which means he was a king at some point before going to the ocean.

The outfit is different from what Adisa, Shifa and Rex wear (all three royals) but Magus's previous outfit has purple, gold and white which are the main colors that the other three have.

Also in the picture of young Magus from the book, did anyone notice his younger self physically resembles someone we know? He actually resembles Rex seeing as how both of the short manes. And these two plus Adisa have the same brown manes.

Also in another episode in Altantos 2, Magus pulls out a book with a picture of a king who I believe it could be Adisa but I'm not sure because this season is in a language I don't understand. If anyone can understand this language in the show, let me know please.

I think Magus was Adisa and Rex's father which makes him likely Max's grandfather. Also since Magus was royal and ruler, he wouldn't have left his kingdom without leaving someone to look out for it while he was away. He probably left to the ocean when Adisa was old enough to take the throne.
You're probably wondering but if that's so, how was it in the show that Max and Magus did not know they were related? Well they probably would since Higgabottom said Magus was of royal blood however he didn't say whether Magus was related to Adisa and Rex. It's possible Higgabottom didn't know about it and depends when the old owl started working for the royals. He might've started working after Magus left.
As for Max, he probably didn't know about it and Magus probably wouldn't know that he was his grandson. Since the season isn't in English, I don't really know what the characters are saying but I think it's possible that Magus is likely Max's grandfather.
