She knew she shouldn't have done it.

When she saw the question and the idea formed in her head, she knew she was wrong. Once her lips were on Nick's, it felt all wrong, but her heart had betrayed her. She clearly had not been thinking. Even after Abigail left the room distraught, she thought she had done the right thing in some twisted way.

It all came falling hard on her, Emma realized. She knew it wouldn't be perfect after she did what she did, but it felt way worse than she expected.

Right after the kiss, Nick chased after Abigail and Emma was forced to stop her live stream. Afterwards came Jacob's wrath. She didn't expect how hard he would fall for her. In the end she wished she wouldn't have gotten involved with him. She would say more for her sake, but she did use him. It's not his fault that she got involved with him to not think about someone else she wanted.

One lie after another lie. What was wrong with her?

Here she stood in front of Abigail's bedroom door. Mrs. Blyg had let her in without ease. Emma knew Abigail hadn't told her family about what she did. Mrs. Blyg seemed so happy to see her. Emma gulped as she extended her hand and knocked on the door lightly.

"Come in!" Abigail called out. She had no clue that the last person she wanted to see was outside. If it was any other day, Emma would have just barged in, but things were different. For now, at least.

Emma swallowed any nerves she had, turned the doorknob and opened the door. She found Abigail sitting on her bed sketching, as usual. There was never a time when she didn't have her sketchbook and a charcoal pencil. She looked so tranquil and in her own world whenever she was sketching. Her passion for sketching was a beautiful thing. It happened to be one of the reasons why Emma loved her.

She had been doomed and she hadn't even seen it coming.

Once she was inside Abigail's room, she closed the door and turned to her best friend. Abigail glanced up and jumped off her bed, she stood on alert. "Emma. What are you doing here?"

Emma tried not to feel so hurt. It was so normal for her to stop by, but it made sense why Abigail might not want to see her. "I know you don't want to see me right now, Abi, but I have to talk to you."

"I don't know if I want to hear what you have to say." Abigail admitted, crossing her arms. "Haven't I made that obvious?" She had. Every time she tried approaching her, Abigail avoided her. Emma hadn't been expecting this and she felt stupid for it. Why wouldn't Abigail stay away from her?

Emma wondered about Nick. She hadn't seen Nick and Abigail together at school but that meant nothing. Did she ruin her chances for Abigail? A part of her was hopeful, but she cursed herself for that. "Are you and Nick. . ." She could feel her eyes go watery and a lump forming in her throat. ". . . Together?"

"Not that it concerns you, but we did talk after. He told me he was sorry and that it was just some stupid dare. He thinks you did it to make Jacob jealous." Abigail answered, not looking at Emma.

Emma was relieved to hear that Abigail and Nick had talked. She had no clue of what had happened since no one really wanted to talk to her. Jacob was still mad. Abigail felt betrayed. Nick was probably confused and just cared about getting Abigail back.

"Nick and I, we're good." Abigail said, earning a sigh of relief from Emma. Abigail glanced up at Emma with hurt. "That doesn't mean I'm still not mad at you, Emma. It really hurt that you'd do that. You knew I liked Nick and you just. . ."

Seeing the emotional pain she had caused Abigail was the worst thing about this. Emma knew Abigail would be upset, but she didn't consider the emotional hurt she would put her through. Abigail felt betrayed. Emma had betrayed her best friend.
