prologue
Shenyang, China. Now you may ask yourself, how exactly did an twenty-five year old woman end up here? Well, after serving two years in the military, she decided studying abroad at Shanghai University where she not only broadened her knowledge in Mandarin, but the Korean language as well. Within a year, she received her credentials to apply at the CIA. But of course, due to holding the lowest score on the physical assessment test, she ranked lower than the other applicants. The chief herself informed her that although she was fluent in both English, Mandarin, and Korean that she "lacked" plenty in other areas. But because of her military service she was given two options: re-apply next year or talk to the vice advisor for whatever job he had available.
Due to student loans & antagonizing family members lingering over her shoulder, she naturally grew desperate. Therefore she took the undercover job in Shengyang, where she would work alongside a group of Korean undercover agents in a rundown travel agency.
Of course, it wasn't held to her standards at first. Shenyang was filled with spies & agents from all across the world—it was anything but special. The economy wasn't flourishing, crime was at an all-time high, and the air was filled from pollution from the factories in the country side. And on top of that, her team members were very hard to please.
It took her almost an entire year for them to take her seriously. They had always stuck her behind a desk, using her face to lure people in, and have people buy the authenticity of their little Travel Agency.
Eventually, her boss finally decided in taking her along missions, but was instructed to never step a foot out of the van. It bothered her when no one took her seriously, but it completely irritated her when they assumed she couldn't handle herself. Therefore, the next mission the girl chose to rebel, leaving the safety of the van. Which ultimately managed to save her entire team from an back door scheme. That is when she realized her crew was heavily involved with many Chinese gangs.
Obviously she didn't agree with their actions, and of course thought about snitching—But she chose not too. Especially when her boss finally informed her about on what was really going on behind close doors.
If she had informed the CIA about the danger and tension involving the Japanese, it simply wouldn't be good for either of them. Plus, she had no doubt in her mind that they would've pulled her out of this job if she had. Because they would've considered her as "unqualified" & replace her with some other asshole. Therefore within the many months, she decided to prove herself in order to gain everyone's respect. And before she knew it, they officially became apart of the team.
