It's been happening for months now and I can't believe it. That's why I always stay hidden. I don't like the attention. If only bullying was taken as a serious matter.
I stand on the beach, my feet and hands in the sand, playing with it, feeling the grains along my skin. Soon I'll be going to school to face the pure horror that awaits.
"Have a good day at school!" My mother shouts from our porch with a wave. I wave back slightly.
I look at my watch that used to be my grandmothers. I miss her so much.
"Crap!" I gasp and see that it's 6:30 am. The town bus arrives at 7:00. I have a long way to walk, well run now. I begin to notice all the people around town this morning.
I run toward my bag with all of my belongings inside for school. I really need to organize my stuff.
As I'm running across the beach I happen to look at the sun coming up. It's amazing to see the changes in colors.
"Hey Lewis!!!" I heard a kid shout, I turn even though that's clearly not my name. I see my childhood friend, Liam, from my English class.
"Why are you calling me Lewis?" I question him with a bit of laughter added.
"I don't know, I'm just playing, gosh. Don't take everything so serious Lex!" He says with a fake pouty look.
"Sorry, I've just had a long week," I confess as we're walking toward the bus stop.
"Are you serious, how can my favorite friend of all time have a bad week?" He says looking at me like I'm a crazy, mad lady.
"Liam, I really missed talking to you since you were gone for a week," I sigh.
He stops me and I finally realize that we are standing by the stop now, waiting for the late bus to arrive.
"Wait why are we even at the bus stop!" Liam shouts dramatically with a little bit of added confusion.
"I ride the bus, Liam," I laugh at him, he just stands there looking at me and I wonder what he is thinking. Just because I'm seventeen and don't own a car doesn't mean anything, right?
"Do you want me to take you to school, Miss?" He questions as if he was attempting to become my hero. He's such an idiot sometimes but I can't help but enjoy his company.
"Sure, why not, I hate the bus anyway, " I laugh and Liam joins in.
"Who knew you could make me laugh this early in the morning, you must be off to a good start," I attempt to make conversation still tired.
"Well ever since we were kids you have always hated mornings, so I suppose it's a personal goal to keep you awake," Liam smiles.
I stay quiet until we get to his car when a breeze suddenly hits us, which makes me shudder. Liam gives me a hug and begins to open the passenger door for me with a grin on his face.
"So, how was it like being in another country?" I ask as Liam drives us to school.
"Honestly, it was amazing. I hope the lads and I can become a huge band one day, with screaming fans, and of course we can go anywhere we want," Liam says stopping at a stop sign.
"We? You and the boys? Traveling?"
"No Lex, you and I, it's something we have always wanted to do you know," Liam chuckles with a slight smirk to top it off.
What did I do to deserve a great friend like him?
