"Hey, did you hear?" Thomas asked Edmund. "About Violet Evergarden."

"Huh, ahh, yeah, that cute chick..." Edmund sighed as he gulped down his drink. "As if we have any chances with her..."

Thomas nodded sadly. "But that's not what I'm talking about. Apparently, Evergarden-san likes someone."

Edmund's eyes widened. "Huh? Her? Not the other way around?"

"Yeah, so I wanted to write to my sister, you know, who was overseas, right?"

Edmund nodded enthusiastically. Some people (around their age) also starting overhearing them.

"So..." Thomas started his story. "I asked for Evergarden-san, because Baudeleire-san was busy writing a letter for some baron in nowhere..."

___

"Nice to meet you. I'm of your service, Violet Evergarden." She said as Thomas sat down, flushing a bit.

"O-oh, ok, so I want to write to my sister..." He started. "So basically, what I want to tell her, is ask if she's doing alright, are the people kind to her, and tell her that I love her as a closing statement of sorts." Thomas looked down. There! He said love! In front of Violet Evergarden!

He looked up to see Violet deep in thoughts. Had that ACTUALLY worked? Was the word love from Thomas seeping into her mind? Was she actually thinking about what Thomas just said? Love?

It was. But not at Thomas, for she was staring at somebody else while muttering softly. Then, as if regaining her senses she looked at Thomas before apologising and going on with the letter.

And as Thomas was about to leave, he heard someone.

"Violet-san, what is it?"

"Sergeant Y/n, could you please help me with cleaning my letters? I wish to do it myself but I have another client in 5 minutes."

"Sure. Also, there is no reason for you to call me sergeant anymore. You can call me whatever you like." The h/c coloured man answer.

Wait, one of his eye was weird. Also, one of his arm. But...

Other than that, he looked fucking fine!

___

"So Violet-san likes handsome people? I thought that she was the more emotion-type woman." One of them interrupted.

"Let me continue!" Thomas said.

___

"Ah, then, Y/n-san..." Violet didn't finish the sentence. It seemed to be awkward for her.

The h/c coloured man blushed hard before laughing nervously.

They got to cleaning letters on her desk and Thomas left.

___

"WAIT!" Edmund said. "So he's the guy who was- ohhhh!" He shouted in clarification.

Everyone leaned to hear him.

___

Edmund was walking the street, humming, for he was going to be seeing Thomas in 20 minutes.

But then...!

"Y/n-san, if you don't mind, where do you live?"

Edmund heard Violet-san's voice. Violet's. It was rare for Violet-san to strike a conversation, excluding the formal greetings in a doll company.

"Oh, me?" Edmund heard a man's voice. "I live right there, second floor, the third and the fourth window."

He must've been quite rich to live in a big house.

"Y/n-san... do you perhaps want to know where I live?" Violet-san than asked.

Edmund's heart shattered. "Wait, she was going to tell a man where she lived?" I mean, it was obvious, the 'Evergarden mansion' and all, but still!

Did she, perhaps, like that man?

"I know where you live. Isn't it the mansion with the pretty flowers?"

Edmund looked at Violet, to see her actually smiling.

"Yes."

___

"Hoooooh! So the young lady has finally found her love!" The bartender exclaimed.

"Yeah, but who is he, anyways?" Edmund said. "Thomas, you said Violet-san called him sergeant, right?"

"He must've been her sergeant when she was in war. Which means he helped her a lot, which means..."

"It's pretty obvious at this point."
