Oh fucking fantastic, now the vampire overlords want us!  was Izzys first thought- rather lament. They just couldn't catch a break could they.

"Do you know why Carlisle?" Edward spoke for everyone.

"It's just an invitation thats...requesting our presence." Carlisle put forward, eyeing everyone, pausing a second longer on Izzy.

The message was clear. This meant trouble regardless of the initial intent.

"Right...requesting." Jasper drawled. 101 scenarios running through his head, all over again. Meeting the volturi was without a shadow of a doubt, a threat in itself but bringing Izzys existence into the mix made it worse. The chances of them not finding out about his mates existence were negligible.

"The Volturi do not request." Rosalie was kind enough to fill Izzy in. "Beneath their refinery and supposed etiquette is the essence of what makes us vampires. They are the embodiment of the danger that has even the wolves revolted to our scents. They carry great power and with that power comes absolute control. So when they request our presence, really we have no choice but to go, unless we wish their wrath upon us."

"But you've broken their main law by telling me your secret!" The realisation left Izzy balking to a pallor that rivalled her new family.

She felt a profound sense of horror. This time they were in danger. This wasn't a deranged vampire out to get her, or a freak car accident. This was a force that had even Jasper, her beloved Jasper, worried.  The grim faces of those around her, said as much. Even Emmets usually carefree smile looked dull.

"We'll be fine darlin." Jasper spoke up, voice steady. He put both hands on her shoulders and steered her to the nearest sofa. "Don't worry about us."

How could she not, they had wiped entire armies of vampires in the south. They were strong enough to inspire enough fear that even those savages kept themselves under control. How would they react to her? Would they take their wrath out on the entire family or would it just be Jasper? The very thought had her heart clenching in pain.

"They could kill all of you, because of me." Izzy whispered softly, staring at the crystal deer that Esme kept on the side table, willing herself to keep it together.

Jasper wrapped his arms around her, sensing her inner turmoil. Izzy felt the familiar calm of Jaspers ability settle over her. He knew how she'd hate to breakdown infront of everyone and was there to keep it from happening. Izzy smiled up at him gratefully, which he returned.

"We don't know what they want," Ever the reasonable man, Carlisle smiled at Izzy with the same fatherly affection he had begun showing her soon after she'd started dating Jasper. " chances are that you won't even be part of the problem."

"But Aro..." Edward pointed out. "We can't keep anything from him."

"He's one of the three rulers," Jasper spoke up before Izzy could even form the question of who Aro was. "He has the ability to see everything that has transpired in your life with a touch. Nothing stays hidden from him."

Izzy gulped hard, her throat suddenly extremely parched. So they'd find out about her existence regardless.

"Izzy, let me ask you a very serious question." Carlisle fixed his attention to her, catching everyone else off-guard. They watched the two wearily . "I want your complete honesty."

"Of course Carlisle." Quelling down the seeds of apprehension that were taking root.

"Have you considered turning into one of us?" The affect of his question was instantaneous, everyone froze, Jasper stiffened next to her, his face impossibly tense even though it was something they had talked about before.
