Theres always a moment of reflection when you go through something momentous, has anyone ever noticed that? A moment where everything stops and you're given a space between one oscillation and the next. That moment is precious and more often than not, no less than enlightening in its significance.

When the day broke through Izzys blissful haze, her moment was just that. Cocooned in Jaspers arms, Izzy woke up to the realisation that she was forever Jaspers. Her soul was so deeply entwined with his, that if they were ever to be split apart, it would be the end of her. She had always known that she loved him, more than she considered herself capable of loving someone. Yet, this was the moment she truly understood the term mate. They were mates.

Strangely, or perhaps not at all strangely, she took the epiphany with relative ease. In a way, it settled all her apprehensions and all the question marks still present in her life. This was it. He was it. It changed nothing, yet it changed everything.

Izzy spent too long entertaining her inner discourse because it was Jaspers soft lips that brought her back to the present. Wrapped up in her own inner musings, she had failed to notice her boyfriend wake up, see her dazed expression and smile in similar contentment and awe. He had been blessed with a heavenly being who felt like silk under his touch, smelt like desire and moved like melody, in a mesmerising rhythm while beneath him. He couldn't help but kiss the smooth expanse of her shoulder to announce his awoken state. It was as though once he had tasted her, it was impossible to stop. Addictive, is what she was, his Liz.

"Good mornin my love." He whispered against her skin, as if they were sharing a secret.

Fighting a blush at the memories his voice triggered, she beamed up to him. "Good morning Jas."

She wanted to say something more, something  to express what she felt for him in the present but all words fell short. In its place, she settled for a smile, hoping he'd feel what she felt. That he would understand how he was her pivot, keeping her sound while the world around her spun in its ever changing chaos.

The way he stared back at her said it all, he knew better than anyone what she was feeling. It wasn't because he was an empath but rather because he was her soulmate, the fabric of their existence woven together into a beautiful tapestry that even they couldn't fully comprehend yet.

"I love you." It was simple, it was genuine and it rang true.

"I love you too Jasper." Sealing it with a kiss.

They laid together in silence, protecting their peace for a little while longer

They laid together in silence, protecting their peace for a little while longer. Refusing to acknowledge the temporary yet inevitable separation that was just beyond their horizon. Izzy would be here, spending a majority of her time with the wolves while Jasper and his family would travel to Volterra and face potential death. It didn't sit right with her but she was too logical not to see how her presence would make matters worse than to alleviate them. The vampire royalty would look first, take action second and consider last, if ever.
