"Y/N WAKE UP WE ARE GOING TO BE LATE!"
I groan as I hear my sister banging on the door, I roll over to catch a glimpse of the time, gasping as I see the alarm showing 6:45 a.m. Throwing the covers off of myself I sprint up and gather my things jumping around trying to pull up my leggings, dropping my books in the process. I leave them on the floor as I run to my dresser to pull out my falling in reverse t-shirt (the first thing i saw) I slid it over my head as I picked up my books and shoved them in my bag running to the bathroom, attempting to make my hair the star of the show today to cover the fact that I had a sleepless night.
After I curled random parts of my hair and brushed my teeth I made my way into the hallway, stopping in my tracks when Alexandria was standing at the top of the stairs hesitating to go down. I attempted to ask her what the problem was but before I could even get a word out she turned to me and placed a finger on my lips, indicating that I should shut up and listen to the faint voices coming from the kitchen that I hadn't noticed before. Standing still neither of us moving a muscle listened in to what sounded like Steve's voice.
"Of course Mrs. Johnson my dad did let both Eddie and I know that the moving process would take a few hours considering y/n and Alexandria's things would need to be moved but it shouldn't take that long, i've brought help with me"
I looked at Alexandria confused as she pulled my arm and turned to me, "Don't make a sound" a whisper admitting from her as we slowly walked down the first few stairs to get a better listen. Steve was never really the type to come over unless it was important, both of us knowing that we have a much better time at his place. He always cared for me and would drive anytime of the night to come save me from my abrupt and unpleasant thoughts of my home life, that's why he's my bestfriend.
Hearing the voices more clear Alexandria looked up at me as she took me by surprise when she lept out of my grasp and finished making her way down the stairs, she stopped at the kitchen entrance not making her presence fully known to the others. Before she walks in we hear our mother start to speak again, "So Eddie, would you happen to know my daughters? Y/n is in the same grade as you I believe"
"Actually I have seen them around, Alexandria is friends with a few guys that I host a club for at the school, as for y/n, I haven't really had a proper conversation with them, but that aside I heard you needed an extra pair of hands today so anything to help a friend!" He sounded interestingly enthusiastic. I jumped at the sound of a thud next to Alexandria, panic arose when I saw her phone next to her and she was frozen in fear, we heard footsteps walking in our direction, I made my way down the rest of the stairs as her and I played it off as we just walked down, she picked her phone up with urgency as we entered the kitchen. I put a smile on my face as I walked around the counter to grab a pop tart from the cabinet as my mother turned to me, Alexandria still in the doorway, " Good morning girls" she plastered a half smile on her face, "so you might've noticed the boys standing there, she motioned to Steve and Eddie, I needed answers now so I shook off my worry and stood up straight. "Is anyone going to tell us what's going on or do I have to figure out everything myself?" I snapped as I no longer needed childish games from her. she was always the type to hide behind my father and his words or lack there of. she took a deep breath and spoke for what felt like eternity her words churning my stomach in all the wrong ways, "y/n, Alexandria, there is no other way to put this other than how it is, your father and i have decided that it's best for us to move away from Hawkins. But.. just him and I." I tried to speak but she cut me off holding her hand up, "Everything is already arranged for our dismissal, Steve's father and yours had a chat and both of you will be going to stay with Steve for a while. No further questions so please go pack your things, you will not be attending school today." Questions burned my mind as I eyed Steve on my way back up the stairs. I sat on my bed mentally taking in everything as i'd have to pack up my life and move away from my childhood memories, although this should be angering me at the thought of my parents just leaving us behind to go do god knows what i'm actually quite relieved. My parents were always very secretive and made small talk for nonsense conversation, they'd always leave for days at a time worrying about other things rather than their children having food on the table. I picked myself up and started to walk to my closet where I had bags from previous school years, shoving all of my clothes into them. I heard footsteps coming up the stairs as I looked up to a worried Steve. "Hey, uh i want you know know that I didn't know about this until 3 in the morning when my dad got home, I was going to call but.." he reached his head to the back of his neck and exhaled not having anything else to say.
I stood up and walked past him to the bathroom, "Steve it's okay trust me, i'm not that stressed about this, i'm worried about Alexandria that's all. I just really appreciate you being here and helping i'm excited" I smiled at him knowing I was telling the truth.
I finished packing up my things as I walked out with my bags going to bring them downstairs when i bumped into someone on the way, I looked up to see eddie smiling down at me, I'd always been fond of him but never really got the courage to talk to him at school, I guess today is the day, "Hey, sorry I can take those for you if you'd like? we drove my van here so it'll be easy to fit everything in a few trips" he put his hand out as to grab my things, "Thank you, i'll follow" I handed him two bags as I carried one on my back and followed him to the van, This is going to be... interesting.
