"Mother, why MUST everything be so boring in the Forrest? I want to see a Human!"
Narca had ignored her son's endless complaints before, but he was really beginning to grate her nerves.
"Son, it isn't a matter of fun. You can find entertainment with the birds and anywhere you look. Here, you are safe! Humans have endangered us, stolen us for decoration! You certainly do NOT want to meet such an abomination."
Gerald, Narca's son, was obviously displeased but held his tongue out of respect.
It was true that humans had enslaved the trees several years past, robbing them of the magic of life and animation. Inadvertently and selfishly, humans polluted the air and turned trees in to nothing more than stumps. Very few trees carried the magic like Narca and Gerald. And even fewer were free.
However, these facts did nothing to curb young Gerald's curiosity. If ever given the chance to meet a human, he would certainly not refuse.
"We will practice your magic tomorrow Gerald. Come. It's time to sleep."
Narca's voice had softened and Gerald complied, stretching out his branches towards the setting sun.
~~~~~~THE NEXT MORNING~~~~~
Narca reached her full branches out, feeling for the sunlight with a blissful sigh. A rising sun was always the best feeling.
Slowly but surely, Narca opened her eyes knowing Gerald would be thrilled to practice magic.
"Gerald!" She called.
"Gerald do you want to get started?"
Upon no answer, Narca looked around a bit flustered.
And then she saw it.
Her eyes almost past over it as it was covered in leaves, But it was there all the same.
A single, human saw.
Pure terror ran its way through her trunk. This couldn't happen! Not to her! But nonetheless it had happened. Gerald was gone. Kidnapped.
Immediately Narca knew what to do. Gathering all of her magic and strength, she concentrated on the form she had to become.
Not sure if she had succeeded she looked to her roots-instead finding feet.
Shuddering in her own skin. She wished to crawl into a hole and die. Narca had become what she hated most. A human.
Despite this fact she had no time to loose. This was going to be the only way she could have a chance to find her son.
~~~~~A FEW HOURS LATER~~~~~
The path exiting the Forrest had finally ended and Narca had been walking in a human street for some hours now, her green tinted hair shining lightly in the sun.
She had been reviving odd looks filled with hate, disgust, and something else she couldn't quite place, but she ignored it all the same.
That was, until a human ran to her and dragged her off her one shot path.
"Wh- wha- who do you think you are?!!?" Narca stumbled over her words angrily.
"Sweetheart, I'm the one who just saved your cover. So if you don't want to die, I would follow me."
She glared, but ran after him all the same. Curious to what he thought he knew about her. He intrigued her.
The stranger was tall with pale skin and goldenrod hair messily styled.
"In here." The human man mumbled towards the back entrance of a flower shop.
As soon as the door closed behind her, the man bursts into speech.
"You seriously need clothes. As much as I would like to state otherwise, your going to get killed walking around like that."
Narca just stared at him. She was already uncomfortable to be around dumbed down, human destroyed plants, but the fact that she neglected to take simple human customs in to consideration made her cheeks burn with shame.
The man ignored her embarrassment and instead reaching into a large chest, pulled out a small dress.
"Uhm.. Thanks." She said, taking it from him.
"So what is such a daring tree like yourself doing out in the open." The man questioned.
"A- a tree? Your in-insane!" Narca fumbled over the lie clumsily.
"Oh don't act clueless sugar. I live my life searching for your kind. It's why I have this flower shop in the first place."
Narca stared dumbfounded.
"I've found some, clinging to life and barely coherent, but alive all the same."
"How is that still possible?" Narca mumbled more to herself.
The stranger let out a hearty chuckle.
"Get dressed and I'll tell you."
~~~~~~TWO HOURS LATER~~~~~~
"I-- wow. Just wow." Narca blubbered. He was a daisy. Just like her besides the fact she was a tree.
"So what about you? I didn't save your leafy ass because I could! What's your story?"
Narca found the stranger's name was Cotic. Strangely enough, she trusted him. He could be lying to her, but she didn't even care anymore.
"Well... My son was... Taken." She had trouble getting the words out. "I was searching for the-- people that took him, and now here I am."
A dry humorless laugh escaped her lips and she looked at Cotic expecting some type of disappointing glare. However, her gaze was met with pity and... Understanding??
"We will find your son Narca. I promise you."
.
.
.Months passed with no sign of Narca's child. However much they searched the kidnappers seemed to be one step ahead.
Narca and Cotic spent every hour of every day together, and that's when she noticed. She FELT something for this daisy. Feeling isn't common in plants such as herself and yet, she knew it was there. Looking at him, she tried to figure the feeling out.
"Like what you see?" Said Cotic with a coy grin.
"I don't understand this human form." She stated blankly. "My emotional capacity for others in this form astounds me."
"Ahh, the joy of humanity!" He sung while grinning.
"How do I explain what this emotion is?"
Cotic rolled his eyes. "Well cherry blossom, I kind of can't help you out unless you give me a description."
Narca groaned. "I don't understand... Fondness maybe? This feeling is odd, like how I feel for my son but.. More."
Cotic stepped towards her looking dead into her eyes. "I think I know."
Exasperated, she huffed. "What is it then!?"
He took one more step closer and said, "this." Before kissing her lightly on her lips.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Only three hours after the kiss, they found Narca's son dead and dumb in a front yard three hundred miles from where he was taken."I'm so sorry it wasn't supposed to end like this. If I could use flower power to fix this I would."
"I know Cotic." Is all she could say before busting into tears.
