the rest of us stayed behind freddy and gregory standing in front of bonnie's old stage. freddy had asked many frantic questions on the way here since he figured out we were heading to bonnie bowl. none of us have actually seen this 'surprise' yet, so this is basically a surprise for all of us too.
gregory moved to the front to properly look at us. "so, have you noticed anything different with the stage?" he asked freddy.
he scanned it for a moment before replying, "the out of order sign... it's gone?"
gregory nodded. "this was supposed to be just a thank-you gift for freddy, for helping me survive that night and for sticking with me even if it meant leaving your friends. now, having you live under vanessa's roof and taking care of me, i don't even care you're an animatronic. you're human to me. you're the father i never had."
huh. didn't know a kid like him could touch my cold, dead 'heart'.
"gregory... i don't know what to say," freddy mumbled tearfully. (he couldn't physically cry but if he could, he'd be a wreck right now.)
"save the thank you's for later, freddy. you'll need it after you see the surprise," gregory said with a slightly torn up chuckle, then continued, "this is also for chica, roxy, and monty who've probably gone through the same pain freddy had after losing a friend."
as soon as i heard chica let out a hiccup, i turned to my right to see roxy half hugging her, her face stressing a touched smile and a pained look at the same time. roxy wasn't the closest to bonnie, but of course she felt bad about what happened to him, especially since it affected her girlfriend.
and then there was freddy, whom i spotted giving me a sour glare for a brief second.
i looked away from everyone and focused on the bowling pit in the far area of the room. it was a memory of bonnie and it hurt, but it hurt less than being reminded of what my actions did to my friends. it's been over a year and freddy and i still haven't patched things up between us. sure, we talked, but it was only about show businesses and professional stuff. when i try to bring other things up, it ends up being awkward and with freddy excusing himself. the last time we ever actually talked was when he yelled at me.
i get it though. what i did is unforgiveable.
"and a special thank you to vanessa for helping me rebuild him."
...
wait, what?
"i present to you..."
the curtains behind him opened and presented a familiar face.
"bonnie?!" everyone exclaimed. the emotionsbehind their voices were clear: shock, disbelief, ecstasy. i... stood nowhereamongst the three.
*
he stood on the wooden semi-circle stage, all his body parts intact and cleaned to perfection. his arm was reattached, covering up the wires that made up his innards. his face was rebuilt with the same iconic star painted on his left eye and the holes that saw through his endoskeleton were patched back up. his blue-yellow-and-pink themed outfit, ear piercing, and signature bowtie looked the way they did before. he looked just like glamrock bonnie – exactly like glamrock bonnie.
"hey, gang! it's been a while," he laughed just like glamrock bonnie – exactly like glamrock bonnie.
he turned to freddy and gave him a warm smile. "hey, superstar."
he smiled just like glamrock bonnie – exactly like glamrock bonnie. because he's the exact same bonnie everyone knew and loved.
freddy knew that all too well.
without a word, he jumped up on stage and hugged bonnie with all his might. he hugged him so tight as if he feared he'd lose him again, as if he feared this was just a dream and wanted to hold on to his beloved for just one more time. bonnie gripped him back with the same strength and leaned on his shoulder. "i missed you, too."
freddy sighed in content under his touch. "i thought you'd never come back."
"me neither." bonnie smiled at the four foot brunette happily watching the scene by the stage. "but your kid found a way to bring me back."
gregory blushed and looked away, kicking his leg on the floor. "pff, that was nothing. and besides, i didn't do it alo– woah!"
freddy carried the child and wrapped his arms around him, careful not to squeeze him too hard (because he's made of flesh). "thank you, superstar."
gregory did not expect hugging literal metal would feel so... comforting and safe. "anything for you, dad."
"awwww!" chica squealed, walking up to them. "you three make such a happy family!"
freddy almost dropped gregory hearing that. "family?" bonnie and he repeated in unison.
roxy snickered. "yeah, man. you guys should consider adopting gregory and be his dads–" failing to stifle her laughter, she doubled over and let out lungful of guffaws, holding her paws to her stomach. chica and vanessa joined her soon after.
if only they were humans, their faces would've looked as red as freddy's shoulder pads. "roxy, that's not funny!" freddy huffed.
"oh, so when you tease me and chica it's fine, but when i tease you and bon bon, suddenly i have a problem?"
as they kept arguing in sibling fashion, bonnie felt something off. something... missing. he inspected his surroundings, investigating the source of the strange feeling. it didn't take him long to find it.
the green gator – the one behind his slaughter – could be seen a few feet away from the rejoicing group of friends, walking away from them. heading for the exit. leaving everyone behind. alone.
