"I was a kid, but I wasn't clueless"

POV: Arthur

It's been about three days after I met this boy. He didn't talk much only if he wanted something or if he wanted to make a nasty comment. At first I wasn't sure what to do with him, I was thinking that I was just going to help rest the bodies, but he seemed to be following me everywhere. It's irritating. Even now he followed me into this coffee shop and ordered me to pay for his food.

I glanced over to the boy chomping on a burger. He must be hungry. He still wore the same white, ripped t-shirt, but the bloodstains were missing. That night I offered him to stay at my place and even washed his clothes- It's a miracle the blood even came out. It's not that I  don't want him to stay at my house, I just don't want to take care of him. I already have a stressful job, taking care of a child was not part of my plans for my future.

"You know, when in thought like that you frown a lot? Is something bothering you or do you often make ugly faces like that one?" There it is. The information no one needed. I clicked my tongue. "Stop talking. You don't want to choke on your food, now do you?" He took another big bite. "You would like that, wouldn't you? I mean ever since I joined you,  you've looked like you want to murder me."

"Is there anything else I can get you?" The waitress smiled kindly and bend down to pinch the boys cheeks. "Aren't you a cutie? What's your name?" He grinned,  showing off his canine teeth. "Take a guess." The waitress laughed. "Mhmm... Let's see." She put a finger to her cheek and scratched it while thinking what on earth the boys name could be. "Aw! I give up. Can you tell me?"

For some reason this interaction annoyed me. The sly smile he would put on. The way he would lean on his hand and smile. It all irritated me. "Why not ask my dad for help!" Dad? How cute, I feel any person who would be related to you would instantly throw you out- That's too harsh, I can't say things like that. Calm down, calm down- Wait dad?! "You look so young to be a father. It must be hard taking care of a kid at such young age." I spat out my drink, pointing a finger at the boy. "I am NOT his father."

"You know he's single." He lifted his eyebrows up and down. The waitress blushed. "Mhm. Can you tell me your name now?" She poked the boys side. "Only if you tell us your name." She looked from the boy to me. "Nalicia."

"Ananias, and that's Arthur."

"Well then please come again Ananias, Arthur."

...

"Way to blow that one." The boy said sarcastically. "She was so pretty too, but I guess your blind." I ignored him. "Where are we going?" Still didn't answer. "Sigh* Fine be like that then." When did he become so talkative, it's as if someone flicked the on and off button. "We're getting you new clothes."

"Don't need it." He lifted his shoulders. "Say, what is your job?" That was out of the blue. I notice one thing about him, he doesn't bother prying on peoples lives. "I can't tell you." He hummed. "Wasn't really expecting you to. I was actually just hoping to start conversation with you. I don't often get to talk to people nor even to see them." I stood still on the sidewalk. "How come?" He silently kept walking, looking at the cars drive by on the busy street. "I wasn't allowed to. I was "too dangerous" they said."

I decided not to wonder any further and jogged back to his side. "How about that shop." I pointed to a nearby store. As we walked in a bell jingled from above. It was a small shop, but had lots of antiques and more. Clocks, candles, books, coats and on and on. "Doesn't look like we'll get much in my sizes." The boys voice called out on the other side of the shelf. "Though, there are pretty old things here."

"Hehe. How may I help you?" We shrieked at the new arrival. "Sorry-" He put a hand over his mouth. "-I didn't mean to scare you. I'm the owner of this shop. Is there something you want that you find of interest?"
