Then Stay For Mine

"Thanks for bringing her back guys.. and thanks for treating her like the precious flower she is this time." Farkle smiled.

"Aye, no problem boss."

"Are you serious?! Again?!" She shouted when the thugs left the room and closed the door.

"I was notified that you were checking out of the hotel. I wanted to talk before I allow you to leave." Farkle stated.

Maya huffed and sat down in the chair across from his desk. "Allow me? You don't own me."

Farkle sighed. "That's not what I meant. I wanted to talk before you took off again, is that better?" He huffed too. "Bon bon?" He held out the box.

Maya glared at him. "No."

Farkle put the box down on one side of his desk than he sat down on the other keeping one foot on the floor. "Maya, don't run away again. Emily needs you. We need you. Please stay."

Maya sighed and shook her head. "She doesn't need me. She's with Riley and Lucas now. They'll take care of her."

"Don't say that like they're together. They broke up when you took off and they don't have that type of relationship anymore. They are just friends. The only reason Riley is caring for your daughter is because her foster home was going to kick her out and she was going to be placed somewhere else, somewhere further away from us, but Lucas didn't have proof that he was her biological father yet so Riley made a deal to allow Emily to live with her for the time being. It was either Riley or we could take her in, but with an autistic four year old we just couldn't bring a stranger into our home. Jupiter doesn't take kindly to new people or change in general." Farkle explained. "Plus with my high blood pressure that my wife has to constantly remind me about having two teenage girls is a definite no, even though Emily is a great kid. I mean she wanted to beat up my daughter, but other than that." He said.

Maya gaped at him. "What? She was going to beat up your daughter and you're okay with that?!" She exclaimed.

Farkle frowned. "No. I wasn't. However, Holly wanted to befriend this girl and whenever Holly feels something for someone I can't stand in her way. My daughter cares about Emily and she wants Emily to be happy so if you won't  stay for your daughter, then stay for mine." Farkle wiped at his eyes. "Holly used to tell us everything, but lately she has become very secretive and distant." He looked at Maya through misty eyes. "I can barely talk to my daughter anymore and I think it's because of your daughter. I think she knows something about Emily, but she won't tell us."

"I'm sorry you're struggling with your daughter, but she is a teenager now. Teenagers don't tell their parents everything, we didn't, maybe it has nothing to do with Emily." Maya stated.

"It has everything to do with Emily. Holly and Emily are always whispering in her room. They always grow quiet when my wife or I approach them."

Maya shrugged. "Maybe they're dating." Farkle scoffed. "Either way, Emily doesn't need a mother that can't take care of her. She'll be better with Lucas, Riley, you, the Matthews.. Anyone except me." She sighed.

"This self pity is not gonna bring you closer to your daughter. "

"Good." Maya slowly stood, unfolded her cane, and gripped the chair to walk around it. "I'd rather be as far away from her as possible." She stated as she limped out of Farkle's office.

Farkle sighed and sat down in his chair at his desk in despair.

"I told you."

"Please honey, refrain from the I told you so." He groaned.
