The howling wind blew into your ear as you could hear the whispers of the anguish of nature. There was nothing but cries of agony ringing in your ears. The man who was weeping and howling over his dead wife and children gritted his teeth and stood up. He marched towards you and grabbed you by your kimono collar before pinning you to the wall. You whimpered silently as you felt inferior to the raging man.
You can tell his emerald eyes were shimmering with boiling rage as your eyes widened when he aimed his fists straight at your face. You heard a small crack as your eyes widened. "It's because of you! This was all because of you! They died because of you!" The man shouted as he threw you onto the ground with no care.
Your eyes gazed fearfully, stunned at what he had just done to you. Your lips quivered as your tears silently spilled out. Can't he tell that you too are in pure agony at the sight of your mother and siblings sacrificing themselves just for the sake of your useless life? Did he only care about his own grief? You never once thought that your father would blame you for such a cruel act.
He adopted you, he was your caretaker, along with his wife and children. They found you while you were just a baby. They raised you like their own. They were generous. They were angels who saved you from the darkness. "You can't blame me for this!" you exclaimed, trying too hard to defend yourself-- it's because you couldn't take it. Your heart tore into half because you too were grieving deeply for this sinister act. A demon attacked your family's hut and they tried to hide from it, but in the end, only you survived. They had sacrificed for you.
"Stop trying to act all innocent! Maybe if you were never born into this world, everything would've been in a better condition!" The man howled loudly as tears uncontrollably spilled out from his emerald eyes.
Your eyes snapped wide open as you jolted up from the futon, rubbing your pale face, you tried controlling your inconsistent breathing. You stared beside you, to see your peaceful husband sleeping in an absolute space of ethereal tranquility. Your eyes melt at the sight of Tanjiro laying silently beside you. You closed your eyes and heaved out a small sigh.
The trails of your childhood trauma lingered in your brain. Those very words had brought you into the depths of hellish pain. You loved your parents too much, that a single ounce of disappointment they had for you absolutely shattered your whole heart.
You pushed your blanket away and stood up, gently standing up, you made your way silently out of the bedroom you both shared before making it to the kitchen. Tired hanging bags hung under your eyes as you just realized how sweaty you were. You huffed out silently before continuing to make your way to the kitchen before you decided to make a small cup of warm sweet tea to calm your nerves down.
You watched as the kettle boiled on the stove as you stood patiently, waiting for the water to be ready. You felt a pair of strong and protective arms wrapping around your small build. "What are you doing up so late, Hunny? I woke up since I didn't feel you in bed, is something wrong?" you heard Tanjiro slurring tiredly. "Nothing, just making tea," you answered briefly. "You only drink tea when you're in a distressed mood," Tanjiro said silently. "Is something wrong?" he asked as he peered thoughtfully at you.
You glanced to your side only to melt at his worried-- yet exasperated face. You looked away and felt your heart pound louder, your ears glowed red in embarrassment as you heaved out a small sigh. "Just another nightmare," you said silently before turning off the stove. "Another one?" Tanjiro murmured into your neck silently before planting a kiss as you slightly shivered at his divine touch. You felt your blush spread even further as you still kept your gaze focused on the cup you were stirring.
"I can't take my mind off of those words," you confessed with a whisper. "It's like his voice is ringing in my ears," you explained. "But I'm-- all right," you tried reassuring him and yourself, but you knew that was a blatant lie. You're not all right. You felt too agonized to be called all right.
Tanjiro caught a scent of hidden pain as he placed his calloused hands on your soft ones to stop you from stirring your tea. You looked at him from the side before he grabbed your shoulders, and slowly shift your position towards him. He placed a hand on your face and he looked at you with the most gentle pair of burgundy-colored eyes you had ever seen. You already felt the agony that was tearing you apart, washed up against the shore with a sea of serenity.
His complexion put you to ease, and his warm touch made you yearn for more. You hovered your hands over his that was on your cheeks. "You don't need to lie to me, alright?" Tanjiro said with a hint of pity. "Just remember, that everything wasn't your fault. It never was, and it never will be," he reassured so tenderly that it made your eyes teared up at the words you've been seeking for.
Your eyes slowly dilated back to normal and whimpered. "I love you, Tanjiro," you said before jumping onto him, engulfing the burgundy-haired boy tightly in your arms. "I love you too, darling," he could only whisper before returning the ethereal hug.
