The ringing phone wakes Jake up from his nap. He blinks for a couple of times and rubs his eyes. Looking beside his bed, he reaches out for his phone. "Yes, I'll be coming in a short while." The tone on his voice was neutral, mayhaps it's because he just woke up or just felt not in the mood.
Jake forces his aching body to get out off bed. Going straight to the bathroom for a brush, he cracks his neck and fingers. He releases a long yawn before snatching both his toothbrush and toothpaste. He didn't bother to take a bath or even a shower as he knows how late he would be if he did; Jake never liked tardiness.
A black suit waited for him on the couch. It is well ironed and smelled like his perfume- expensive and elegant. He changed into the suit and went to look for shoes appropriate for his outfit. Beside his favorite sneakers were sharp and shiny black shoes.
Those sneakers were bought for him by Sunghoon. Apparently, he deserved a reward for finally getting his paper work in a busy week done. Jake passes a sly smile on lips, he never gets tired of how much his boyfriend spoils him.
Jake checks his fit at the mirror, he ties the neck tie around his neck and combs his hair neatly. He exhales and decides he is ready to live. Bringing his phone with him, Jake makes his way out of his apartment.
That was quite a dream. He can't help but think about what had occurred in his mind from a 5 minute long sleep.
. . .
The car is parked beside the road whose opposite is a grass field. People filled the area, everyone wearing suits or dresses. They all either sat or stood up. Jake slowly approached and found a sit for himself.
Its surprising how he hadn't expressed his emotions or let out even a single tear from the moment he woke up until now that he is facing what anyone would instantly break down after seeing.
A hand delicately touches Jake's back, he looks behind. Heeseung smiles softly, and then sits beside him. Couple of minutes later and everyone has arrived and sat on the chairs draped over by white cloth. All Jake's friends were also there, all of them sat beside each other, also wearing they're own suits.
A man in a long white robe with golden lines etched on the fabric approaches platform in front. He places the Bible on the lectern, as he coughs, everyone turns silent. A priest.
"We are gathered here to say our farewells to these following people and to commit them into the hands of God." The priest proceeds to tell the names. The names of people known to him and everyone else who attended.
Eight caskets in front. Inside are those people who have commit themselves to making discoveries and creating history for the mankind.
Eight people laying there. Inside their energetic bodies were souls that made them who they are. A child, a friend, and a person.
Eight souls flying free. Their souls shall be remembered and respected. Souls that were once allowing people to live and now, those lives have been snuffed out of them.
And one of those caskets is where Sunghoon's body is resting. Because since the incident, Jake always felt his boyfriend's soul beside him. He feels it. No, he knows it. Exactly what Sunghoon said in his dream, he will never leave his side, as a living being or a free soul.
The funeral went on. One individual related to the astronaut spoke in front. Jake was the one who spoke for Sunghoon, of course. At first, he find it troubling to speak as it was finally the time he broke out of his emotionless state. The numbness disappeared when he saw every one weeping, mourning for the loss of their loved ones.
But his friends were there. That gave him the courage to speak on. He isn't the only having a hard time coping with what had happened, families and friends are with him to finally say goodbye and let there souls rest.
It would be best to let go and move on.
. . .
Well, that happened...
