ROXANNE POV

"Daddy!" I heard Angelina's giggle as I washed the dishes at the kitchen sink.

Turning around, I spotted Raphaël standing in the kitchen, with Angel clinging to his feet.

We shared a quiet moment, our eyes locking, as he set a phone on the countertop.

"I used your phone to call some friends." He explained, momentarily diverting his attention to Angelina. "They should be here soon, thanks to your GPS."

"How did you get into my phone?" I asked, puzzled. I quickly dried my hands on a towel and picked up my phone, noticing the lock screen.

"It's locked." I pointed out, holding it up for him to see. He gently scooped Angelina into his arms, her small frame fitting snugly against him.

"I've got ways of making things happen." He said confidently, a slight furrow in his brow as he shrugged. This guy was even more mysterious than I'd anticipated.

Turning my focus to Angelina, I asked, "Are you okay, Angel?"

"I need to pee." She blushed, glancing quickly at her father. I couldn't help but chuckle; her embarrassment was utterly adorable.

"Why didn't you say so earlier, princess?" Raphaël raised an eyebrow, gently setting her down on the floor.

Taking my outstretched hand, Angelina's tiny fingers intertwined with mine. "You were both talking, silly." She replied, a mischievous grin lighting up her face.

Raphaël sighed and gestured for me to take her to the bathroom. As I led her there, she took her time, so I slipped into my bedroom to grab my favorite stuffed animal.

When I returned to the bathroom door, I found Angelina drying her hands at the sink. She turned to me eagerly as I presented the teddy bear.

"Teddy bear!" She squealed, rushing toward me. I crouched down and handed it to her.

"You can keep it, even though it's my absolute favorite." I smiled, warmly.

She giggled, hugging the teddy tightly and looking up at me with wide eyes. "Really?"

I nodded. "Do you have toys at home?" I asked, squeezing her hands gently along with the teddy bear.

"I do, but this one is special." She replied, a fond smile spreading across her face. I chuckled softly, but her words lingered in my mind, making me ponder their deeper meaning.

"Is Raphaël really your father?" I ventured, holding her hands and the teddy bear close.

She looked at me, confusion flickering across her features. "Yes, silly." She said, nodding earnestly.

"Where's your mom?" I asked gently, a hint of concern in my voice. Her smile faded slightly and her eyes clouded with sadness.

"Daddy said she's in Heaven, but I never got to see her before she left." She replied softly, her words heavy with emotion. I gently stroked her cheek, offering silent comfort.

"So, your dad has been looking after you all this time?" I stumbled over my words, trying to grasp the gravity of the situation.
