one | FIFTEEN MINUTES.

"Thank you, baby." Jayda's smile is tight and her cheeks rise, going in to give her fiancé a quick kiss. She accepts the drink carrier he holds out for her. "You know I will go crazy without my caffeine, it's like crack."

Keith chuckles and scratches at his eyebrow when Jayda pulls back from her small embrace. "Yeah, you addicted fasho."

She rolls her eyes at her man. "Yeah, yeah, you gonna come over tonight?"

She can't believe she has to still ask him that question. Two years of dating and a eighteen carat diamond ring at home on her finger, but they don't even share a bed together every night. Let alone a home.

The last time he spent the night was when the two of them went to look at wedding venues... a month ago. Time was dwindling down on their big day and they had to get things in order but it's just slightly embarrassing they're hardly ever in the same homes yet they're counting down to the day they'll say 'I do.'

Keith takes a sharp breath and she doesn't even need him to say it. That intake is an automatic let down every single time. "You know how it go with the firm hours, baby. It gets late."

"Yeah, I know." She mutters, looking down at her Tom Ford heel she weakly kicks at the ground like a child.

   "Don't be like that, baby."

She finally looks up but wants to avoid his eyes at all cost. She looks around and then back down, feeling like she's throwing a tantrum. "Like what? I gotta go, Keith."

"Now you gotta go." He sighs.

"I mean I'm at work, ain't I?" Jayda fights the urge to let her attitude seep into her words but it shines through regardless. "I told my boss I was only coming out to grab this from you. Thank you, I'mma talk to you later."

He looks at her and she can tell he wants to say more but he's going to let her have it. "Aight, I love you."

"Luh you too." She has a terrible habit of dropping the "I" before love when she's upset. He used to point it out so much but he doesn't anymore, just sighs about it.

She turns around before he can, not wanting to watch him go. Her heals click hard against the ground and her walk has to be stink with attitude now. Her face is frowned up and she's not sure why she gets so mad every time he rejects her invitations to spend the night.

It was almost always the same answer unless he was actually able to or he invited her to spend the night with him.

She gets to the entrance of the center and luckily and guy was already rushing out, but he holds the door for Jayda. She forces a friendly smile before she mumbles a quick thank you to him.

Her unit is on the sixth floor and she could use the small elevator silence before she goes back to the quiet chaos her job brings her.

She makes it to the elevator, hitting the up button with power and she waits. She doesn't even want to drink the coffee anymore since he's the one he got it for her. Coffee is meant to keep her energized and from getting moody, but is she's already annoyed what's the point?

The sleek doors ding and slide open, allowing her to step in and thank god there's no one in it. She slips in to the corner and hits her destination, shutting her eyes so she can take a deep breath. She shouldn't be this irritated.
