Mariah Miller
My eyes opened and the smell of pancakes hit me like a brick. I sat up excitedly and rushed to put on my slippers, I loved pancakes, they were my favorite breakfast my mom made.
I smiled and was ready to dash through my bedroom door until my phone dinged on my nightstand and then a few more times after that. God, can a girl just get some pancakes without interruptions?
Destiny
Mariah, what happened last night?Destiny
Are you okay?Destiny
Should I come over, I don't want to be responsible for your death RiahMy head thumped and I remembered the guy from last night. He walked me home, we talked, he gave me his jacket, but there was one problem... He was 24. I still had on his black hoodie that was pretty big on me. I can't believe I forgot to give it back.
This whole situation was a big headache and all I wanted to do was eat some pancakes. I unzipped the hoodie and couldn't help but smell him on it. It smelled like cologne and cigarettes and for some reason, both of them mixed were so perfect to me. Why was I so drawn to him?
I sighed and threw the hoodie in the back of my closet so my mom wouldn't find it and changed into some pajamas to be sure to leave my mom without questions. My mom always knew when something was wrong and I'm just hoping she didn't know I snuck out last night.
After texting Destiny that I was home safe, I left my phone on my bed and rushed downstairs. "Good morning Riah, how'd you sleep?" I sat in my normal seat only noticing there was a big Bach of pink roses on the table.
Dad probably bought them for mom as a cute gift. Mom and Dad were always what everyone in a relationship would want to have. I hope I could have what they have someday.
"I'm good mom, can I get some pancakes now" She chuckled and handed me a plate. I took some strawberries from the container and put two on top. Now my pancakes look pretty.
"So Mariah, is there something you wanna tell me?" I froze up widening my eyes. No way she couldn't have found out. "No mom w-why?" She smirked and put her hand around the vase of the flowers. "Really?" She said, my head tilted in confusion. She pulled the tag out of the flowers and smiled.
" 'To Mariah, the prettiest rose in the garden' " I grew even more confused. Pink roses, a letter, called me pretty? "Read it for yourself Riah. If you have a boyfriend just say so" I giggled and grabbed the tag and read it for myself. Someone wrote this for me.
"Mom I don't have a boyfriend" The only boy I could think of was the guy from last night, but how would it be him if I didn't even let him bring me all the way home? "It's probably a secret admirer then, but you should try to think of who this is Riah. He made a very nice gesture" I can't believe my moms not yelling my ears off about this guy right now, to be honest.
"Yeah I'll think about it"

"Mariah you need to tell me what happened last night! This is serious"
"Destiny I don't want to talk about it right now. It doesn't matter anymore, ill never see him again" I applied some more pink to my paintbrush getting ready to finish up my painting of the flowers the mystery man bought me, only for it to be taken from under my brush.
"Hey! What was that for?"
"Riah, you need to talk to me, this is your first time talking to a boy!" Her huge grin shown all over her face, you'd probably confuse it with being the best day of her life.
"Fine, it was just some man who was being nice and walked me home. I was sitting outside alone and he felt bad. There, happy now?"
"No, I'm not happy. I need information! Was he hot?" I scoffed and stood up "Come on Riah please tell me more and I promise I won't ever bring him up again"
"Promise?" We interlocked our pinkies and shook them side to side. Knowing Destiny, she'd still bring this up and tease me about it. This whole thing is not as big as everyone's making it to be.
"He's cute... I guess. He smokes cigarettes and gave me his jacket, but I didn't let him walk me all the way home, that's why I don't know where these flowers came from-"
"Uh uh, don't change the subject. Now, why the hell didn't you let him walk you all the way home?"
"Destiny, he's 24" She gasped and jumped onto her feet. I knew this would happen. "Riah what the hell! Does he know how old you are?!"
"I lied and told him I was already 18" She ran her fingers through her dirty blonde hair. I could tell this was stressing her out, and that's why I didn't know why she cared to hear about this so bad.
"Riah, it's not good to lie about your age like that..." Her frown turned into a smile.
"Not unless he's fucking smoking hot, so, tell me more about him"
