~buckle your seat belts friends this is a jam-packed, super long chapter (4318 words to be exact) ~
"So no jail time for the two of you?" I joked as I walked up to the car.
"Henderson, Do you have any way to reach your brother?" Chief Hopper asked me.
"Why, are they in danger? Is it Eleven?" I asked worriedly. Why were they always getting into such deep shit when I wasn't there to stop them.
"You know about the girl?" He asked, his stare boring into me.
"You know about her?" I retorted.
"Look we don't have time!" Mrs. Byers yelled.
"Right right sorry. I'll be right back... Make yourselves comfortable," I said gesturing through my front door to the inside.
The group followed me in, and I ran to my room to grab my walkie talkie.
"Dustin this is Y/N do you copy?"
There was no response.
"Come on Dustin pick up, I know you're there," I tried again.
Still silence. I looked up at the Chief, his mouth drawn in a tight line.
"Look, is there a code word or something only you two know about that would get him to trust you?" He asked.
I sighed. Yes, there was. But it was embarrassing as hell. "Fine." I pressed the button again, addressing Dustin. "I promise I won't kiss any boys."
The whole group looked at me like I was insane, but before I could defend myself, the walkie talkie crackled and we heard Mike's voice coming from the speaker. "Dude, what the hell?"
I laughed. "Good to see you guys are ok. Now where the hell are you?"
"The junkyard."
"Tell them I'm on my way there," Chief Hopper said, grabbing his keys and heading out the door.
"The chief is going to come get you. Stay right where you are and out of sight. Over and out."
Johnathan looked at me. "I promise I won't kiss any boys? What the hell was that?"
"It's an inside joke asshole." I rolled my eyes and tossed my walkie talkie on to the couch.
The four of us sat there anxiously awaiting the return of the Chief and the kids. Joyce and Nancy sat on the couch, while I paced around the living room.
"Y/N chill, they're going to be fine," Johnathan reassured me.
"What if they're not? What if the bad men got them!"
"Bad men?" Mrs. Byers questioned.
"Oh sorry I mean, those people who are after Eleven. She called them the Bad Men. force of habit," I laughed nervously.
"I'm sure they're ok. They're all really smart kids," Nancy said.
"Yeah but they're also stupid as shit! Literally this week they accidentally set the AV Club room on fire!"
"Are you serious?" Nancy laughed.
"Yeah! They came running down the hill from the middle school screaming, pushing Eleven on a cart because she couldn't run!"
"So this Eleven girl, what's she like?" Joyce asked, leaning forward.
"She has these, telepathic abilities. She can move things with her mind, and she can uh, track people? I think? Lots of cool stuff. She's crazy powerful." I had stopped pacing and turned to face my full attention towards Joyce as I spoke. "She's super sweet she'd do anything to protect these guys. They're like, her first ever friends. She doesn't talk much actually. I don't think she knows many words aside from, you know, basic dialogue like 'good', 'bad', and some abstract things like 'upside down'," I explained. Then I turned to Nancy saying, "The upside down. It's where you and I went when we went through that gate."
