"'The week is long. The silver cat feeds when blue meets yellow in the west. A trip to China sounds nice if you tread lightly! Think about it! They're talking about Starcourt." Robin exclaims, pacing around the room.

"What the fuck is that supposed to mean?" Steve asks chewing on the expo marker.

It's been two weeks since I started working here. It's a pretty easy job, it kind of just feels like I'm hanging out with friends. Sometimes customers are annoying though, especially the little kids.

"Yeah, right. Think about it. What would russians want to do with some random mall in Hawkins?" Dustin says.

"I don't know if you've noticed but apprently lots of people want to do with Hawkins." Robin says.

Last week, Dustin and Steve told me and Robin about everything that's happened here. I didn't believe any of it at first, and neither did Robin. I mean, I don't think anyone would just believe that the lab opened a portal to another "world" that sent out monsters that wanted to kill you and they had lab patients and one of them broke out and apparently has mind powers. But they had proof, so I believe them now.

"That does kind of make sense. Starcourt would be a perfect place for russains to use as a secret base, or something." I say, Robin stops pacing and gives Steve an 'I told you so' look.

"Okay, we'll how are we supposed to find this russain secret base?" Steve says and he runs his hand through his hair.

"The vents! I can crawl through them." Dustin exclaims.

Steve laughs, "Dustin I'm sorry dude but how are you supposed to get into those vents and be able to crawl in them?"

I look at the clock, our shift ended ten minutes ago and we should've closed down Scoops by now.

"Uh, guys-" I try to say, but Dustin and Steve are arguing, and their voices are much louder than mine.

I look over at Robin, and she seems deep in thought, maybe she's figured out something. She looks up at me and the concentration on her face goes away.

"Shut up, dingus!" she says loudly, "Reese is trying to talk!" I smile at her, and forget what I was going to say for a second.

"Uh, erm. Yeah. Scoops should've closed ten minutes ago. Maybe you guys could stay back here and try and figure this out some more while I go and close?" I say as I look down.

"Yeah, okay. You too figure this out and try not to kill each other back here and I'll go help Reese close." Robin says as she stands up and leaves. I follow her.

We start to close, as we normally do. Robin seems to be thinking about something, probably the Russians.

"You okay?" I say, wiping down a table.

"Yeah, it just doesn't make sense." Robin says, and she opens her mouth to say something else, but stops herself, "I'm sorry we dragged you into this, you must be so bored."

"No, it's okay! It's interesting. I just- I feel like I'm not doing anything to help." I say.

"That's okay, you're the peacemaker." she smiles at me, and I feel my cheeks get warm.

I've kind of had a small crush on Robin ever since I started working here. It's obvious she doesn't feel the same, and I doubt she even likes girls. There's no way I would find another lesbian in Hawkins. I think she just feels bad for me, because I never know what to say.

I hear the sound of a whip cream bottle behind me. I dramatically turn around to see Robin spraying whip cream into her mouth.

"Robin! What are you doing??" I gasp.

She just laughs, and with a mouth full of whip cream, responds with, "Don't worry! We bought too much whip cream, and I was planning on taking this home anyways. Want some?"

I laugh and shake my head, "You're crazy, Rob." But I walk towards her and open my mouth, because I want some too.

Instead, she puts it on my nose. I scrunch up my eyes and laugh, "Hey!" I try to grab the bottle and she grabs my arm, and we laugh and fight over the whip cream.

I try to grab the bottle, but instead I grab her hand. We both stop, and look at each other. I know I should pull my hand away, but I don't. I just stare at her, like an idiot.

Just then the back door opens, and I quickly pull my hand away and step back.

"Um, I don't know what I just walked in on but I'm gonna go. We can continue this tomorrow, alright?" Steve says, grabbing his keys and walking out of Scoops.

Robin snarls at him, "Sorry, he is such a dingus." she walks to the trash and throws the whip cream away. Then she gets her bike helmet and starts to walk out the door. "Uh- see you tomorrow?" she says, and then stammers, "Of course I'll see you tomorrow, we work together! Sorry, bye Reese!" she says and runs out the shop.

I mouth the word, "bye", but I don't actually say it. I just stand there, whip cream on my nose.

the next day , 10:40am

"And we stared at each other, for like, a solid five seconds!" I say, pacing around Dawns room.

"And?" she says, dragging on the word.

"Well, then Steve came in and was like 'uhh I have no idea what I just walked in on'." I say, collapsing onto the bed.

"Reese, even Steve noticed it! I think she likes you!" Dawn kicks her feet in excitement. She loves anything romance.

"That's a bold assumption." I say, trying to contain my smile.

"You're blushing again!" she giggles.

"Okay, well what am I supposed to do now? Do I say something?" I cover my hands with my face.

Dawn sits and thinks for a moment, "Oh em gee! Ask her to come to my s'mores party!" she beams. Dawn is hosting a 's'mores party', where Rocco, Dawn and I are going to roast s'mores. It's not much of a party, she just likes to call it that.

"Dawn, I love you, but I think she will think the s'mores party is stupid." I tell her.

"No she won't! I'll make it fun, I promise! This is like, the only way you will see her outside of work. Please, Reese! Tell her to invite Steve, too!" Dawn blooms.

"Okay." I nod.

She looks at me like she waiting for something, "....Call her right now!" she says.

"Now? Isn't it a little early? Maybe she's asleep." I say, trying to think of a way out of this.

"No excuses!" she holds up the phone, and I grab it, pulling the cord around my finger like a little girl.

I dial her number in and it starts to ring. Dawn smiles her big smile and looks at me as I hold it up to my ear.

"Hello..?" Robin croaks. I can tell she's just woken up.

"Erm, hi. Sorry to wake you, it's Reese." I say, and I feel bad for waking her up,

"Oh, Reese! No, it's okay, I need to get up now anyways." her voice rasps a little.

"Okay, um- so Dawn is having this little get together thing with me and Rocco and we are just going to roast s'mores at her house and maybe swim or watch a movie or something it's not really decided yet but I was wondering if you- and Steve wanted to come?" I ramble and look up at Dawn.

"Oh, um, sure! I'll let Steve know. Thanks, Reese." she says.

"Of course, um, see you later today at work. I've gotta go now, bye Rob." I say, and hang up.

"Rob?" Dawn swoons.

I scoff and shake my head, "Steve calls her that, I guess I kind of picked it up from him."

Dawn walks over to the record player and puts on a song. She starts to jump around the room and takes my hands and we dance around the room and I start to forget about every thing that worries me.
