-Bless' POV-
"Shh Baby", My mother whispered to me as we hid from the fortitudes, "If they don't hear us they won't take you away from me.
"Yes, Mother." I whispered back watching their flashlights shine all around us. If they found me, I would be killed. If they found her, She would be too.
We hid under a flipped canoe by the waters. The moon was shining beautifully against the water. The wind was blowing gently stirring up my white, long hair. The Fortitudes were walking along the lake looking for me, because I was imperfect. I looked at my mother and her eyes were full of terror. I cocked my head to the side and followed her line of vision, glancing out from under the canoe. There was a fortitude and his mutt walking closer and closer towards us, the dog sniffing the ground. I prayed to God the wind wouldn't blow again and send my scent directly to him I froze when I heard the trees blowing around in the distance. Just my luck.
I felt my moms gentle touch on the small of my back. I looked over at her and tears were brimming her eyes. She knew the wind was coming just as much as I did. We both knew what I had to do; Run.
"Bless, when the wind gets here the dog will automatically smell you and you will be caught. So, on my count you need to run as fast as you can into the woods. No turning back, no slowing down."
"What about you?" I whispered. She pulled her face into a sad smile and kissed my cheek.
"One." I closed my eyes, wrapping my arms around her and inhaling her sweet scent of Cinnamon.
"Two. Get ready." I opened my eyes letting her go.
"Three." She jumped up and pushed the canoe backwards. Everything seemed to be happening so fast. I was running as fast as I could with the wind guiding me to the safety of the darkened woods. My vision was blurred, thanks to my tears. Once in the woods, I sat leaned against a tree, breathing heavily. 'What am I going to do? Is mom coming? What's going to happen to me?' I thought. So many thoughts were running through my head. That is until, I heard two loud gunshots ring through the air. Causing everything to go silent. No more screaming, No more barking, No more anything. Silence.
The tears started to come harder and faster. I sat up and began running again. I was running with all of my might when one of the fortitudes walked out from behind a tree and injected me with some blue tinted substance. Everything began to blur. Nothing was right anymore. I stumbled to the ground and slowly let the darkness overtake me.
