there you were, managing to creep up to the astronomy tower. the absolute highest point in hogwarts. there had been many things clouding your mind at this very moment, you needed to get away from reality even if it was for a short moment in time. no student was allowed in the astronomy tower without a teacher, but thanks to your invisible cloak you were like a fly on the wall. you hadn't been up here by yourself before, you were here for a class with lupin but this part of hogwarts was not a common place to have a class. you looked at the view, nature had finished its snowfall, it had looked like something fresh out of a fairy tale.

the snow neatly covering the forests and hills you saw before you, your attention turned to the balcony, pacing your way to the small opening. "wingardium leviosa." you chanted as you took out your wand and waved the wand around you, you had felt your feet lift off the ground and gently landing on the balcony, sitting cautiously.

this view was far more pleasing to the eye, the stained windows as beautiful as they were, didn't do the scenery justice. so much had ran through your mind but if there was one thing that you hadn't stopped thinking about recently was your potions teacher, professor snape. he was the only thing that clouded your thoughts in this moment. being a latecomer to hogwarts had set you back, professor snape had offered to help you learn everything you should have in 1st year, it was quite the odd feeling you had. you hadn't had that sort of attention before and you loved every moment of it. every time when the term was over, you always left him a gift of some sort, something you could pluck out of your expenses.

first you left him some cauldron cakes, then it was a collection of some of his favourite tea from madam puddifoot, 3rd year was when you gave him one of his favourite muggle books, and a collection of shakespeare's works in your 4th year. you weren't able to get a gift for him in 5th year but you made up for that recently when you had purchased a quill for him. you had thought of every time you have left him such gifts, you assumed he was quite content with it but he too, wasn't used to having someone pay this much attention and care towards him.

"you know students aren't supposed to be up here, miss l/n." you heard that voice, you turned back and there he stood.

"i couldn't sleep." you admitted.

"invisible cloak, i should have known it was you when you banged into those bookshelves." snape said as he picked up the cloak and hanging it on the empty staircase, you giggled slightly at his words. "such a clumsy little girl, i'm surprised you haven't fallen off the ledge yet." snape added.

you stifled another giggle, shyly turning away. snape had approached you at the balcony, even he had to admit the view was quite exquisite, it took your breath away. "you're cold. how long have you been up here?" he couldn't help but ask you. "not too long, around 5 minutes give or take." you answered.

he sighed softly and taken off his cloak, wrapping it around your light silk pyjamas. you felt the cloak rest against your freezing body. it was warm and smelt like parchment, you wrapped it a little bit more and then you turned to the view.

"it's beautiful, don't you think professor?" you asked.

"it is a sight to be reckoned with." he answered.

"have you ever been up here before?"

"used to. but not recently." he answered. you nodded, letting the silence completely take over. it was a comfortable one to say the least, you both looked at some snowflakes that been slowly falling.

"you must like the snow a lot." you said, he nodded. "it always snowed in my youth." he said.

"spinner's end." you said, snape looked over to you taken aback that you had known the place. "i used to go there to visit my grandmother...professor." you said.
