For the first time in his life, Joseph woke up with an uncertainty. Being a prince, he always knew what lay ahead in his day. Plans, schedules, meetings, nothing went astray. But now he wasn't really sure. Not only he was out here in the unknown, he was the unknown even to himself. No longer a prince, he was now a whole new person.
This is messed up. He thought to himself as he was getting ready. He was about to put on his t-shirt when there was a soft knock on the door and the door opened.
Their eyes met. She held her gaze for a few seconds when her eyes moved down his face following the smooth skin of his bare chest and then she nervously tucked her hair behind her ear.
Claire cleared her throat, "Breakfast is ready. Mom wanted to make sure that you ate before dad takes you for the tour."
Joseph pulled the t-shirt down over his head and replied, "That's very sweet of her. Let's go."
"You sure you don't want to comb your hair?"
Joseph glanced in the mirror. He looked flushed. This is the second time Claire walked up on him naked/half-naked and for some unknown reasons, it is like a fire igniting inside him. He has never felt so nervous around some common girl. Maybe it is because he doesn't want to mess this up.
He picked up the comb and brushed his smooth flowing red hair.
"I almost forgot, thanks," He smiled, putting down his brush.
"You're welcome. So, are you nervous about your first day?"
"Yeah kind of. Do you have any tips?" He asked as they walked out of his room, towards the stairs .
"Well, my dad is a softy. He won't bother you by hovering around your shoulder. Since you're new, I am guessing today will be a tour and some basic training. Just work hard and do whatever he says, you'll be good."
"Hmm, sounds easy, thanks."
Gabriel was on the table already. He had his glasses on while he read the newspaper. As soon as he heard them coming, he put his paper down and removed his glasses.
"Good morning. Looks like you two have bonded."
"Good morning dad." Claire walked up to him to kiss him on the cheek. "I was just telling him to not to be nervous for his first day."
"Is it? You really don't have to worry about Gabriel. He is a darling." Antoinette made her way from kitchen. She put down the food in her hands on the table and kissed her husband.
"Yeah well, listen to my wife. I do, all the time." He winks and starts to dig into his food.
It was a quick breakfast, especially for Claire. As soon as she finished hers, she leaped out of her chair, gave Gabriel and Antoinette a quick hug.
"I will be late, love you guys."
She turned towards Joseph, "Have a nice day, bye"
"You too, bye" His eyes followed her as she made her way out of the front door.
Gabriel and Joseph finished their breakfast and he motioned him to follow him out. They walked their way towards the vineyard. Upon reaching, Gabriel showed around, the land was good about a hundred acres. They had an in house winery. After the tour, Gabriel offered Joseph some in-house wine. As a royalty, he had tasted the finest wines of the world, but this was really good. When they were done drinking, they moved on to get some work done.
Joseph found that the work was arduous, yet charming and peaceful in its own way. It wasn't anything difficult to learn.
As the hours passed by, he was quite tired and just wanted to hit the bed. After getting home, he didn't even wait for dinner and just went to sleep.
