TW: Blood, injury, implied torture/experimentation
~○~
(Captain Puffy's POV)
For the first time in a few months, the smp was entirely quiet. No wars or arguments or fighting. It was like the world went quiet. Watching. Waiting.
Any normal person would be relaxing, enjoying their five minutes of peace before something explodes or someone dies, but not me. I've been in this server long enough to know that peace had never been an option. Something happened, and I had every intention of getting two steps ahead before it could hurt anyone else.
It felt like the world was holding its breath. The calm before a storm. I left my home early that morning, in hopes to find whatever the disturbance is before it got dark.
Once the sun began to set I began to lose hope. Maybe I was just being superstitious? Nothing happened. I've been all over and nothing and no one was out of place. Maybe peace was possible.
As soon as I ended that idea, it was crushed by the sound of sobbing and heavy breathing.
There was a bird hybrid girl, who look like hell, kneeling in the grass. They looked like they were about to die, and I wasn't exaggerating. They had red wings out their back with one bent at an awkward angle, and they had an arrow sticking out the back of the shoulder. Another glance showed me that it went all the way through, I could see the blood-stained metal on their front. Not to mention they're also covered in small cuts, blood, scars, dirt, and sweat.
"Oh god! Are you okay?" I asked her as I rushed up and kneeled beside her. They slowly looked up at me. Nothing in their brown eyes gave any indication they comprehended anything I just said.
"Honey, can you hear me? What's your name?" I tried once more. Out of instinct I reached out and touched their face to try to keep them conscious and their attention on me. They flinched at the contact, but after a second they leaned into my hand. I couldn't tell if it was because they wanted to, or if they were about to pass out.
The answer came fairly quick once their body gave out, and they collapsed in my arms. Well, I believed I found what I was looking for. However, I found it difficult to believe how such a broken looking girl could cause much trouble. I pulled them into my arms and made sure I wasn't touching their injured wing or the arrow in their shoulder. I wasn't incredibly surprised when I lifted them and they weighed next to nothing.
"God, kid, what'd they do to you?" I asked aloud to no one. It was hard to believe that anyone would do this to themselves, so someone else must have done it to them. That wasn't a comforting thought either.
I began to speedwalk towards the community house. It was closest, and I knew it had beds and health potions. I took another glance at the girl. They wore what looked like a prison outfit. Matching beige t-shirt and pants. The only thing out of the ordinary was the name tag on the shirt that said "Experiment A-34". Was someone experimenting on people? I needed to get them fixed up so they can explain what exactly the hell happened. If this was happening to other people, it needed to be stopped.
The community house was finally in eye-shot as I stepped onto the familiar wood pathway. I picked up my pace a bit as the building got larger in my sight. Once I was close enough to make out the inside, I noticed Sam was inside. 'Good' I thought to myself 'Sam can help'. Due to my lack of free arms, I kicked open the door. I watched the tall man jump at my sudden outburst.
"Puffy! What the he- Who's that?" His angry tone diminished quickly and was replaced with curiosity.
"No clue. Help me fix them?" I know I asked him, but I was sure to give him a look that said 'do it or get stabbed'.
