Grandma Moreno

I fluttered my eyes a little bit and I felt a couch underneath my body. I strained my ears and heard an older woman talking to the 11 other kids who were running away.

"But we're children," Rewind said.

"Yes, children of the heroics. If anyone is going to beat the aliens, it's going to be you, because you have SUPER POWERS," Mrs. Moreno stressed the last two words.

"Yeah... super lame powers," Face Maker resigned.

"Speak for yourself," Wild Card stated.

"Okay, Johnny Random," Rewind defended.

"Mhmm... this is no way to be a super team," Mrs. Moreno hummed, disapprovingly.

"Abuela is right, aliens are about to invade and if we want to rescue our parents and save the planet, we're going to need to do it now," Missy encouraged.

"Are you saying that we could be superheroes?" Acapella asked, brightly.

"Yeah... I guess that is what I am saying," Missy said, sort of defeated.

"We can be heroes, just for one day-----," Acapella sang while I rolled my eyes.

"Sorry, it was there for the taking," Acapella apologized.

"I need you all to maximize your powers," Mrs. Moreno tried to lift up their spirits.

"Grandma, I have been trying to do that my whole life, so if you have any ideas, I am all ears," Wild Card complained.

Something happened, causing them to laugh.

"It's not about who is the strongest or fastest, it is about working together. That is why we are going to need a leader," Mrs. Moreno suggested.

"That would be me," Wild Card answered.

"I was actually talking about Missy but thank you," Mrs. Moreno surprised the two kids.

"Follow Me!" Mrs. Moreno ordered.

I pushed myself off the couch and walked with the group outside and down the steps while Missy and Wild Card tried to convince Mrs. Moreno for Wild Card to be the leader.

"But I'm the leader," Wild Card objected.

"He's right," Missy defended.

"And I'm totally okay with that," Missy promised.

"Well I am not, and we don't have time to argue. So what I say goes," Mrs. Moreno ended any further discussion.

"Yes, ma'am," Wild Card gave up.

"Welcome to my training ground," Mrs. Moreno introduced.

It was almost like a stadium with granite steps leading down and circling a grassy plane area. Squares of the grass disappeared and training equipment took its place.

"Let's Boogie," Mrs. Moreno started.

I sat down on one of the steps and distanced myself from Ojo. Something about her just wasn't right. I sighed and watched as they went up against replica's of enemies that they might fight. Soon the power was given over to Missy and it almost fell apart. Slow-Mo was hit by the last punching bag as he ran through them. He started falling every so slowly.

"Somebody catch Slow-Mo," Missy yelled.

"Noodles, wait no Face Maker, no Rewind," Missy second-guessed herself.

"Who? Make up your mind," the twins said.

Noodles yelled that he got him but he was on the rope that you had to balance on, so when his arms stretched out he became sort of like a helicopter. He knocked away the weapon that had cushions on both ends, which hit Rewind on the head, causing for him to fall down. Then Face Maker was knocked over and one of Noodles arms latched on to part of Wheels' wheelchair.

"Listen to me!" Missy yelled amid the chaos.

Soon almost all of them were on the ground, I stood up and flung out my purple mist and caught Slow-Mo. Everyone stared at my "arrival".

"When did you wake up?" Missy asked.

"When Mrs. Moreno was giving you lemonade and I followed you down here," I shrugged, setting Slow-Mo on the ground and making my mist disappear.

Missy ran up and out of sight as everyone started training again, but with an air of self-doubt. Guppy meditated and seemed to be judging the chaos that had just occurred, I couldn't really blame her now could I. But I had a mission of my own. Something about Ojo had set me off from the start, like who was her parent that was in the heroics? So, I decided to take a peak inside of her head. I did this motion:

Her eyes turned violet and I quickly scanned through her mind. It was like taking files from a locked office except that you had the key. I took the files without bothering to glance at them. Then I made doubles so she would still have the information. I left her mind moments later and thankfully no one noticed. Ojo would never need to know that I looked inside of her mind.

This information I got from Mr. Marcus Moreno:

Everybody in the alien cell was arguing, besides Harry and Mr. Moreno. Harry was still knocked out and his pulse was weakening. He was exposed to space which was bad for someone who had the powers of Earth. Like Guppy who needed water for her powers to work, Harry had to be in the Earth's atmosphere which never proved a problem until now. So now, his life force was slowly draining unless he was brought back to Earth soon. All Mr. Moreno could do was watch one of his team mates slowly die in front of him.

Back to me (I had no clue about this at the time):

Mrs. Moreno disappeared after Missy. I just spectated with Ojo as they trained some more. Helicopters circled over head as the two came back into view, we all gathered together.

"They sure find you quickly," Mrs. Moreno noted.

"They want to take us back to headquarters," Face Maker said, exasperated.

"Well... too bad! We've got a world to save," Missy said with a new confidence in her voice.

"Go through this tunnel," Mrs. Moreno ordered.

Tall grass on the side of us moved to either side, revealing a hidden tunnel. I hesitated because I had always associated dark with death. But Missy pulled me into the awaiting darkness.
