I don't know where I am. I don't recognize this place at all. Everything is foreign. Honestly, I'm a bit scared.
———————I was scared.
I woke up in a vat of water, in an unknown location within a mountain, hearing a voice, and going outside to a world I had no idea of with an object the voice dubbed the Sheikah Slate wrapped against my waist.
I found an old man, who was very cryptic, and talked to me as if he knows me.
The voice led me to weird structure hidden inside a rock formation that turned out to be some sort of tower that burst from the ground and gave me an overview of the entire land.
I heard the voice again, in the form of a golden glow, coming from a structure surrounded by ominous pillars and smog.
I saw a beast of no solid form circle that same light, giving a ground-rumbling roar, only to disperse as the light grew brighter and consumed the beast of smog.
The voice told me to remember. Told me I slept for 100 years. Told me the very beast I just saw would soon break free. Told me I needed to hurry.
Hurry for what?
The old man met me at the bottom of the tower. He explained what the beast was called and what that structure in the distance was as well. He asked me if I intended to go there.
I said I did.
Why did I say that?
The old man smiled at my answer, saying how he expected me to say that.
How did he know?
He said he'd give me his paraglider to get off this plateau if I got him some treasure. He pointed to what he called a shrine.
So I went there.
Why did I go there?
It was very weird inside. I got something called Magnesis for my slate. The name does as implied. And then I solved puzzles with it. It was kinda fun!
But there was a weird machine I had to fight. It shot lasers--they hurt! I beat it though!
When I got to the end, I met a monk--I think, hard to tell--who told me their purpose and gave me a Spirit Orb. It felt weird when it entered me; but it wasn't painful or uncomfortable. It felt empowering, actually...just—minus giving me power.
The old man met me again outside of the shrine. He somehow knew of the orb and said it was because of clairvoyance, or something. He talked of the Sheikah and their wisdom. He wanted me to get the orbs from the rest of the shrines for his paraglider. I wasn't exactly happy with him changing his deal.
He simply laughed and told me a trick to make my trips easier: I could travel to any blue icon on my map instantly. He didn't lie. But it felt disorientating as I teleported to the top of the tower. There, he also told me there was a scope feature, which I used to find the rest of the shrines.
But why was I going along with this?
Maybe it was because, despite me not knowing--better yet, remembering--anything, there was that murky feeling of familiarity.
It was a bit scary, honestly. Everything I encountered has this inkling of familiarity hidden in the depths that I just couldn't swim down to.
Is it why I agreed to everything prior? This familiarity? This feeling that I'm here for a reason that I just can't remember?
The apple slipped out of my grasp and tumbled and rolled along the ground. I frowned. I got hungry after completing one of the three shrines. The old man mentioned a forest nearby full of food, so I went here; and now my food is on the run--err--roll.
