"Mom can you give me a ride?"
"You can drive." She rolls around in her bed as I leave the doorway.
"Bye Claire." I wave to my little 6 year old sister.
"Bye Natalie." She replies.
I run downstairs and grab my bag, an orange, and the keys. I get in the car and start it up.
What kind of people are going to be at this school? Douches like at Justin Sienna probably.
I drive passed the school and grimace at all the kids. Already noticing the little cliques here and there that I won't fit into. I park and get out.
Schedule says first class is History. As the bell rings to go to class I finally find the classroom after about a decade of struggling.
"Hi my name is Natalie Holland." The teacher turns around. A heavy man with too much cologne on and a red face.
"Hello Ms. Holland. You will be taking your seat next to Ms. Newman." He points over to a girl with short dark brown hair. I walk over to her and sit down.
"Hi." She looks at me and smiles.
"Oh you must be new." She holds out her hand and I shake it slightly. "My name is Julie. Julie Newman."
"My name is Natalie, Natalie Holland." She is very tan with hazel eyes.
"Alright class be sure your cellphones are turned off."
"This is Mr. Port." Julie leans over and whispers. "Btw history is boooring." Smiling, Mr. Port sits down on a stool that looks like it is going to snap in half under him.
"Now everyone we have a new student, Natalie. Stand up Natalie." My cheeks burn with embarrasment as I stand. I sit back down and put my hands on my cheeks.
Mr. Port blabs on about the school year and how it is going to be the best year of our life. But I can tell by the sweat stains under his arms and the casual twitches when he talks, he isn't too sure.
The bell rings and I grab my bag.
"What is your next class?" Julie says walking next to me.
"Uhh my schedule says Biology." I hand it to her and she frowns.
"Not with me, but with my friend Miranda." She hands it back to me. "Good luck." She waves and walks to her next class.
"Excuse me?" I turn around to face a boy about my height. Which by the way is not tall at all. He has brown hair and green eyes.
"Yes?" I say not knowing to say to this stranger.
"Are you new?" I nod questiongly.
"Hi my name is Carson."
"My name is Natalie."
"Are you lost?" I look around and see everyone is already starting to go to class. I nod.
"Let me see your schedule." I hand it to him and he examines it closely. "Come on I will show you were it is."
"Thanks." I say as he hands me my schedule back.
"So where are you from Natalie?"
"Uhh Rhode Island."
"Whoa! Why made you come all the way out to California?" He looks at me like a curious little puppy.
"My mom got a job out here." I smile at his expressions.
"Got any siblings?" We turn around a building.
"I have a younger sister named Claire."
"Thats cool." He smiles. "Well here we are, It was nice meeting you Natalie."
"It was nice meeting you too, and thank you very much."
"Don't mention it." He winks and walks off.
Walking in the classroom was the most awkward thing ever. All eyes on me as I walk in late.
"Hello, can I help you?" A very tall skinny woman with long blonde hair walks over to me.
"Uhm yeah I am new." I hand her my schedule.
"Ahh Natalie Holland." She says smiling. Take a seat anywhere you would like. I look around and feel so much pressure.
I take my seat next to a kid with brownish orangish hair and some freckles on the bridge of his nose.
"Do you mind if I sit here?" I ask reussuringly. He shakes his head.
"Go right ahead babe." I look at him and he smiles. Oh great.
