Practice went on as usual, the only difference was that part of your mind was on a different matter.
"I like (Name)-chan...!"
You definitely heard it. There's no way your ears would deceive you. It was cruel but, you just wanted to laugh.
'Someone liking me? And the one who said he does is Kyopai? That's impossible!' You thought.
'Just forget it! Forget it!""(Name)-chan...?"
"WAH!!" You fell over in the bleachers.
"(Name)-chan?! Are you okay?" Sawai asked as he put his hand out.
"I-I'm fine!" You blushed as you helped yourself up.
"Okay then..."
'How am I supposed to focus like this?!?" You yelled at yourself.
As for Midorima, Midorima acted normal. He practiced normally, talked normally. Yes he was normal.
"Isn't Midorima acting a little weird today?" One of the senpais said as he watched the bespectacled boy make a shot from afar.
"He seems pretty normal to me..." A first year responded nervously.
"Yes...but he seems too normal." The boy eyed Midorima suspiciously, but his train of thought was cut off by Miyaji's shouting.
"WHAT ARE YOU SLACKING OFF FOR?! EVERYONE RUN ADDITIONAL LAPS!!"
"What?!?"
"HUSTLE!!"
The players groaned as they ran another lap. Takao covered his mouth and ran outside. A few players followed. Midorima was the only first year who did not go outside to "let it all out" yet... After all, the training at Teikou was almost at the same difficulty level.
But Midorima wasn't thinking about that at all that practice. The only thing that filled his thoughts were Sawai's declaration and the girls' words about them a few days before.
"I like (Name)-chan!"
"Did you see that guy with (Name)? They seem really close!"
Midorima could feel his blood beginning to boil, but he couldn't understand why. To take out his frustrations, the green haired prodigy took a shot far from the hoop. Of course, he made it without even hitting the rim.
"Nice shot, Midorima!" Many of the players cheered for him.
"Don't push yourself though." Miyaji said in an annoyed tone. He noticed Midorima breathing harder than usual.
"Yes..." Midorima answered a bit absentmindedly.
Noticing this, Miyaji threw a basketball in Midorima's direction. Luckily, the ball barely missed him. This was just enough to snap Midorima back into reality.
"Midorima! Go run some laps outside!!" Miyaji shouted, causing everyone to turn their attention to the scene.
"Wha– yes nanodayo..." Midorima answered as he jogged to the doors.
"Come back when you can put everything you have into practice." The older boy said. This time in a calmer tone.
The shooting guard stopped.
"...yes nanodayo." He nodded and left the room, leaving a heavy atmosphere behind."..what are you guys doing?! Don't slack off!!!" Miyaji shouted after a minute.
"Y-yes sir!!"
You and Sawai stared at the door where Midorima left.
"I wonder if he's alright..." Sawai said, clearly concerned about him.
