I was following behind Alex like my whole life depended on that, a step after the other I felt my life is going down in the drain.
You can quit' suddenly grandma's words echoed through my memory. I shook my head, trying to wave it off, I knew this was going to come from the first day I swore to serve my country, just that I wasn't mentally prepared.
"You okay babe?"
Alex asked with so much concern lased in her voice. I inhaled deeply before looking at her. I nodded because I couldn't say the words out, even after forming them in my yet to be organized brain.
She did a tsk tsk with her mouth before turning back to lead the way forward.
"You act like I'm taking you to hell. I'm not Lucifer honey, don't act like I'm fucking gonna hurt you."
"Nothing of sort."
My raspy voice responded and she just waved me off.We reached the entrance where two heavily hefty bouncers stood in an all black T-shirt and pants. They looked at us wearily then blocked the entrance.
They might have received orders to double security because of the continuous jam in the surveillance.
"I'm not in the mood for all this shit, can I just go in and have fun?"
Alex asked as if very angry with them for blocking our paths. They silently cleared the path for us but not without giving us a hard stare especially one directed at me. I tried to control myself from crumbling down from the stare, as a support I got hold of Alex's hand in a girly friendship posture.
We walked in hand in hand, and Alex kinda liked the whole stuff as she held mine tighter, swinging it till my arm was finally resting across her shoulders.
I felt uncomfortable and quickly withdrew mine.
"I don't bite."
Alex responded to the gesture annoyed and strode off into the distance. She is one with so many weird characters that I must be forced to get aquainted with.
We went from a passageway with people, in pairs of guys or ladies or mixed getting hooked up in a weird position or just kissing. I felt sick to the stomach and almost wanted to throw up.
I hastened my footsteps to catch up with Alex who didn't care much about anything, we walked into a room blasting with hip hop music, so loud that I can't ascertain my hearing abilities after I leave here.
"Stay close, we need to go upstairs."
Alex pulled my hand, pulling me back to reality. She was actually shouting so I can hear her. I nodded and followed suit.As we climbed up the stairs, I looked down to see girls dancing on a pole mounted on some sort of stage completely naked. I gaged, ready to throw up but the glares from Alex made me swallow my imaginary vomit.
The men too, were just having fun as they touch their butts and stock money into their thighs which the lady clasp together and wriggle with her legs in full swing.
Their breast were pressed and squeazed by this beast looking men yet they accepted them all, even showing their perfect smile of acceptance.
I forced myself to look away, no more of this, I don't like a sight like it.
Upstairs was better with less noise, a more controlled atmosphere with just pairs sitting down to talk quietly while sipping their drinks.
I looked at Alex who was so busy with her phone, chewing her gum so annoyingly creating stares her way once in a while.
