Allen had waited patiently in the circular sitting room for Charli for an hour, before he started to get impatient. This was strange, because Charli was always early to everything, and, glancing down at the golden watch gleaming on his wrist, there was only five minutes left before she would be called in for her test. And she was nowhere to be seen.

Starting to get a little anxious, Allen looked up at the door, then to his watch, and back again, tapping his foot on the ground.

Where was Charli?

Just as he began to panic, the door swung open and Charli, along with her family, entered, panting slightly.

"Sorry I'm late," Charli said, collapsing onto the chair next to Allen, "There was a bit of trouble in the air. Apparently there was another dragon rider who lied about having permission."

"Oh, of course. That's really annoying," Allen said sympathetically, nodding. "That's why swans are the best."

He noticed Charli shift a little uncomfortably in her chair. "Char, Cottontail is a really old swan. You're not evil, I've known you for years!"

Charli scowled at the ground, muttering, "Swans are supposed to be able to tell who has Locked Realm, right? Then why is he always trying to bite me?"

Allen sighed. "Look, I don't know, but you need to collect yourself. The judges aren't going to take a sulky girl kindly."

A voice called, "Charli Simmers," and Charli stood up.

"See you later," she mumbled, not looking at Allen.

He acknowledged her with a nod and a small smile.

Allen waited for ten minutes calmly. He knew those with a Truthful Realm only took a few minutes, since the key would leap into the tester's hands, but Charli had never exactly been simple.

It was after fifteen minutes that he started to worry. Never once in the course of history had a test took this long, except the time... He shook his head, clearing the unpleasant thought. Charli couldn't have that as her Realm... right?
