"I can't run anymore", you blurted out and rested your arms on your knees while gasping for air.
Billy stopped in his tracks abruptly and jogged back to you. You glanced up to him exhaustedly and tried to hit him from your position but failed miserably.
"Why are you always so quick to use violence, jackass", you scolded him slightly while laughing. And Billy chuckled.
"I know, but look where we are now though", Billy said, psyched up in anticipation of your reaction. You looked behind Billy, where colorful lights lit up the dark sky.
You stood up in awe and gasped. It was beautiful.
Before you were the carnival that passed through town once every few years. Children were running around jolly, and parents were following with smiles on their faces. The air was filled with the smell of fried churros, and eager chants and bells resonated from carnival stands whenever someone won a prize.
"I feel like a kid again", you uttered, and Billy took your hand in his.
"Then let's go and be", he shouted and pulled you into the carnival's chaos.
You and Billy were undeniably drunk and felt no shame having fun, even at the stall games built for kids.
The stall lady handed you a puppy teddy, and you eagerly took it. You had just captured 10 rubber ducks from the duck pond and had, therefore, won a prize.
"Thank you", you sang sweetly at the lady, and Billy was leaning on the stand, shaking his head, laughing at your joy.
You threw the teddy at Billy without warning him first, and his eyes widened. He frantically did his best not to drop it on the ground, and you smirked, feeling good about causing him to struggle after making fun of you.
When Billy finally had control of the teddy, he sent you a little glare.
"For my best friend", you said and bowed generously. Billy's lips curled up into a smile, and he looked at the teddy.
The teddy was a sore sight with crooked eyes and way too orange fur. But it was cute nevertheless.
"Yeah, I'm not saying thanks for this abomination", he teased you, and you hit him childishly.
"Ouch, my feelings", you laughed, pretending to be upset, and Billy tucked the teddy under his arm and looked around. His expression quickly turned flirty, and he nudged your arm.
"Let's go to the candy floss stand", he said, and you gave him a puzzled look.
"You want candy floss"?
"No, but there's hot girls and a guy standing in line there, and we still have an incredibly annoying tie", he replied and gave you a wink. You turned to look where Billy had looked just seconds ago, and he was right.
You gave Billy a competitive smile.
"Game on"!
You both walked over to the group of attractive people, and you put your hand on the guy's shoulder. He turned his head and looked at you, a little confused but smiling nonetheless.
"Hi", you said softly.
"Hi", the boy replied and he tilted his head, awaiting your introduction. Meanwhile, Billy was already busy flirting with both girls.
You glanced at Billy before continuing your conversation with the boy.
"-Y/n and you are", you introduced yourself casually and handed the guy your hand. But to your surprise, instead of shaking it, he gently took it and kissed it.
"I'm Daniel", he said and narrowed his eyes slightly.
Daniel was a handsome young man who was slightly hipster-looking. He had green eyes, and deep brown hair, and his body were slender.
"Are you here with a girlfriend, Daniel", you asked him seductively and gave him doe eyes. Daniel chuckled and looked at the girls.
"I'm here with my girlfriends, but no, not a girlfriend", he replied and glanced at Billy shortly.
"Are you here with your boyfriend"?
You looked at Billy, who hadn't decided on one girl yet. Instead, he was eagerly flirting with both of them, and something told you he was plotting to get more than one point tonight. You scrunched your nose, slightly displeased, before forcing out a laugh.
"Ah no. Billy's my best friend", you told Daniel, and he gave you a pleasing smile. His eyes were all over your body, taking in every detail of you, and you felt yourself heat up from sexual tension.
"Good", he said slowly, making sure you were paying attention, giving you a simple yet powerful response.
"So... you have any plans for tonight, y/n", Daniel then asked, and you smiled suggestively.
"No. But I'm hoping I might soon", you replied, and Daniel sneakily put his hand around your waist.
"Oh, you do have plans", Daniel said softly and stared into your eyes. It was an indirect agreement the two of you had just made, and it made it so much more interesting.
Daniel was interesting.
You smiled at him but suddenly felt someone's stare drill into your head. You turned your head in the stare's direction, only to find Billy with a weird smile on his face. Before you could react though, Daniel pulled you away.
You looked up into his eyes, puzzled, and he nodded his head towards the carnival's Ferris wheel.
"Wanna ride", he asked you, fully knowing that that could mean more than one thing, and you found yourself under his spell. You lifted your eyebrows confidently and smiled.
"I do".
You turned your head around to face Billy, and when his eyes met yours, you mouthed an "I'm gonna go".
Billy's eyes flashed to Daniel, and he nodded quickly before returning his attention to the two girls. Part of you hoped he'd have fun, and another tiny part of you hoped he wouldn't get any points tonight. But you quickly hid that part away. It was ridiculous.
You turned to Daniel again and slung your arm around his.
"To the Ferris wheel", you sang happily, and you and Billy's ways parted for the night.
