Chapter 2- Day 1.5- Alone with Haru

School was finally over and Haru and I were walking home together, like we normally do. We always take the beach way 'cause Haru loves the ocean. He always gets so lost in the water and I think it's the most adorable thing in the world. But today I was also lost in something blue. Haru's eyes. His beautiful blue eyes reflected the water and it was really mesmerizing. I could just stare into his eyes all day. He doesn't seem to notice me staring at him. I chuckled a little and that seemed to take Haru back to earth.

- Why are you laughing?

- Oh, I was just thinking of something. You. But I can't say that.

Haru turned his face to the ocean again and we continued walking in silence.

When it was time to separate Haru opened his mouth as to say something. But it took a few seconds before the words escaped from his mouth.

- Makoto?

- Hm?

- What are you gonna do for new years?

I felt my heart race when he asked me that. What does he mean by that? Does he want to spend new years with me?

- Eh? A-ah um, nothing, I guess.

I scratched the back of my head as I was nervous.

- Is that so? Well, in that case. Do you want to do something then? Since my parents aren't coming home for new years I'll be alone.

- R-really? Ok then! Let's do something together then!

I gave him my usual happy smile. Maybe it was just in my mind, but I think he smiled a little too.

- Well, see you tomorrow then.

- Ah. Yeah! But try not to be late for school again.

- We'll see about that.

I laughed a little. That was pretty cute~

- Good night.

- Good night, Haru-chan!

I watched him disappear up the stairs before I started to walk towards my house. When I walked inside I was greeted by two little twins.

- Welcome back Onii-chan!

- Yeah, I'm back.

The twins hugged me tightly, like they didn't ever want to let me go. I hugged them both back. But not as hard, 'cause I would probably crush them.

- Makoto? Is that you?

- Yeah.

- Are you hungry? Dinner is almost done.

- Ah, ok. I'll just go and wash my hands.

I let go of my siblings but they didn't seem to do the same.

- No Onii-chan. Come play with us!

- Hey, dinner is almost done, we can play after that.

- Noo! We want to play now!

Aah, I can't get mad at them. I'll just have to give up.

- Ran, Ren. Leave your brother alone. You can play after dinner.

The twins let go of me at my fathers command.

- Thanks dad.

- No problem. Go and wash your hands now.

I picked up my bag that I dropped when Ran and Ren jumped me, and I walked up the stairs to my room. I opened the door to leave my bag, and when I put it down, a letter fell out from it.

What's this? It has a heart on it. Don't tell me-

- Makoto! Come down! Dinner's ready!

- I-I'll be right there!

I'll read it after dinner.

I put the letter on my bed and walked into the bathroom and washed my hands. I then walked down to the dining room and sat down on my usual spot.

- How was school today?

- It was just like usual, I guess.

- Makoto?

- Yes mom?

- What did you eat for lunch?

- Eh?

- You forgot your lunch on the table.

- Oh, yeah. Sorry.

- Did you buy food from the cafeteria? You know that's not good for you.

- No, ehm Haru and I shared lunch. Oh and by the way.

- Hm?

- Can I celebrate new years with Haru? His parents aren't coming home so he was lonely .

- Well, I guess it's alright. But don't come home too late.

- Mh! I won't. Thank you!

I finished dinner quickly and went up to my room. And just when I was about to open the door, Ran interrupted me.

- Onii-chan! You said we were going to play!

- A-ah.

*sigh* And I was in the mood to go to sleep happily.

- Ran, Ren. It's past your bedtime. You have to go to bed. No time for playing.

Thank you mom! You saved me!

- Waah! Do we have to?

- Yes. Tomorrow is school. It's Friday tomorrow so just go to bed now.

The twins sighed out loud and I went into my room. I laid down on the bed with a smile on my face.

Yees, I get to spend new years with Haru-chan! That will be the perfect time to confess.

I rolled to my side and I saw the letter I put there earlier. It had my name on it in cursive. Pretty handwriting. And a big red heart that sealed the envelope. I opened the letter and inside there was a piece of paper with only one sentence on it.

"Please meet me by the tree behind school at lunch."

Suspicious. I wonder who wrote this? I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

After taking a few minutes to let the letter sink in, Haru suddenly popped up in my mind. Oh yeah. Haru said "Since my parents aren't coming home for new years I'll be alone." "I'll be alone". My face got really hot and I started to feel kinda nervous. Waah! I didn't think about that! Haru and I are going to be alone on new years!! I could feel myself blushing. Ok, ok, stop thinking about that! After telling myself that, I imagined Haru's eyes, reflecting the water. The look I saw when we walked home today.

*Yawn* I should go to bed. I turned the lights of and crawled back into my bed and shut my eyes. After a few minutes of dreaming about Haru, I was sound asleep.
