Suhani's POV
Rest of my week was spent working on my class syllabus and thesis paper.
On Monday when I was returning home from college, I stopped car at my favourite ice cream parlour.I bought Nolen gurer (date jaggery) ice cream, it was my all time favourite and Nidhi also loved it.
While I sat down in the car and about to start the engine I thought, I should go to Kakima's place to check on her.
'Guys you all may be wondering why this surprise visit..... right??
Actually kakima has a rare heart problem,so doctor has prescribed her to rest as much as possible with medication.
But Kakima being kakima, do not take rest. Actually "Rest" word is not there in her dictionary.
So I often pay her surprise visit to scold her for not taking proper rest.'
I stoped my car infront of Roy Mansion,Dulal kaka (Door kipper-cum- security guard) opened the door.I entered and parked the car in parking lot.
After I came out of the car, I saw Dulal kaka was standing there to greet me.
"Bhalo acho to Didimoni?(I hope you are doing well madam)". Elderly man asked with a kind smile
"Bhalo achi go, tomar barite sabai bhalo to?R tomar nati...tar Parasuna kemon cholche?( I am doing well.How is your family members and how your grandson's study is going?) ".I asked.
"Barite sabai bhalo achhe Didimoni,R nati ta khub dustu hoyeche (everyone is doing well at home and my grandson has become very naughty lately)".
"Kaka ki r korbe?O to Chhoto (he is a little kid uncle , what to do?"I chuckled.
"Tabe dustu holeo parashunai mon ache , class e bhalo result koreche(though he is very naughty but he is very sincere in his studies,scored a good marks in exam)."He answered proudly.
"Tahole i hobe (then everything will be alright".I said.
"Hote to habei,tum or boi-khata kine diyecho, ato baro school e bhorti kore diyechho, ami ki ta britha hote dite pari(It has to be, you brought him books and copies,helped him to get admission in a well-known school.I will not let him wast any of your efforts)."He said with determination.
"Ami emon kichhui korini kaka,tumi eto bhebo na( you are thinking too much,I have not done anything big)."I said with a smile.
He nodded and expressed his gratitude some more to me.
I shook my head in defeat,and took big steps towards the house.
"Kakima......kakima, Kothai tumi.....?(Aunty....... aunty, where are youm?)."I called her in a loud voice.
"Ei to ekhane.....rannaghare.....ekhane ai...(I am here in the kitchen... come here)".I heard her voice,my eyebrows furrowed instantly.
I looked at my watch, I was 3pm.
That was her afternoon nap time,but instead of staying in bed ,she was in kitchen.
"May I know what are you doing here".I said with serious expression, when I reached at the door frame of kitchen.
"I have just finished making 'Payesh'(Kheer or sweet rice pudding),come have a test".She said with pure joy in her face.
I went near her , meanwhile she served some Payesh in a bowl and placed a spoon full of Payesh in front of my mouth.
Whole kichen along with entire house was bursting with aroma of Payesh.I was so tempted to eat the Payesh as kakima was a awesome cook.
