Chapter 2-Betrayal

Zion stirred in his sleep feeling the blistering sun ray on his eyes. Without opening his eyes he searched for Freya in the bed but the bed was empty.

Adjusting to the sudden light he opened his eyes, he searched for her here and there with groggy eyes. Finally, he found Freya sitting on the floor like a mute.

Her facial expression was miserable and tear stains were visible on her chubby cheeks. He also noticed that she was holding his phone tightly. Sensing his eyes on her she looked at him with sorrowful yet angry accusing eyes.

" Freya, what happened?" He asked trying to get close to her.

She shouted throwing the phone in his face," Why did you do that, Zion? Why did you betray me? If you loved someone else then why did you marry me?"

Picking up the phone he looked at the phone screen and noticed the texts with his lover. It didn't take much time for him to understand that Freya has come to know about him. She has come to know that he loves someone else. But, there was no guilt or fear in him that she came to know about his truth. Freya was astonished to see his untroubled expression.

" Are you going to open your mouth?" She screamed angrily.

Letting out a breath he answered," Since you have come to know about the truth then let's just come to the point. I don't love you."

Those words left his mouth and Freya felt like someone has stabbed her heart with a sharp knife. She was wondering where his promises go, those romantic moments, those feelings, those desperations. Where did everything go suddenly? Is he joking with her?

" Why? Why? Why did you play with my feelings like that? What was my fault?" She asked bursting into hysterical sobbing.

Zion answered rolling his eyes," Well, I didn't have any choice but to pretend that I love you. Since your dad is my dad's best friend, my Dad wanted me to marry you. According to him, you will be the perfect daughter-in-law of Adamson household. When I refused to marry you, he threatened me that he won't give me even a single penny if I refuse to marry you. That's why I had to marry you."

Freya was shocked to hear that he married her just to gain his father's property. He just destroyed someone's life, someone's feelings for his own selfish reason. She wondered how can someone be that much selfish! Didn't he love her even an ounce?

" My father's health is worsening day by day. The doctor said that he will make it the highest one year. Once he dies, I will divorce you. Simple. Till then you can enjoy yourself with me," He said so casually like it's not a big deal.

Getting close to him, she raised her hand and strike right across his face. Touching his throbbing cheek he looked at her with burning eyes. Gritting his teeth he held a fistful of her hair tightly but she didn't even hiss.

" I am returning to my house and soon you will get a divorce letter," Freya lashed at him.

Freya thought this time she will see some anxiety or fear in him but to her utter surprise, he didn't seem bothered at all. Instead, a glint of taunt appeared on his face. He behaved like she just said a joke.

" Ok. Then, I am ordering my men to kill your brother who is studying in a boarding school and soon you will get his dead body," he whispered in her ear that turned her blood cold.

She asked shuttering," What do you mean?"

" Do you think I am a fool, Freya? I knew that once you get to know about the truth you will demand something like that. So, I have been preparing myself to handle this situation from the very first. Now, listen to me," He said pulling her towards him.
