The dreaded moment of anyone's summer was finally here, the last day of freedom. The day before waking up early, homework, tests, and studying started up again. The day almost all school children dreaded, the last and final day of summer vacation.
I got up from my bed wanting to make the most out of the last remaining day of summer. I made my bed and opened the blinds. Which to be honest was a rare occurrence.
I looked around my room, my lacrosse gear scattered all over my gray rug. I picked it up and put it all in my lacrosse bag.
I placed my bag next to my door so I could bring it down to the garage.
I walked out of my room and headed toward the bathroom I shared with my brother.
I washed my face and did my skincare, I brushed my teeth, as well as my hair. I decided to leave my blonde locks down for the day, I looked up to meet my reflection in the mirror.
I admired myself and smiled, analyzing every inch of my reflection. I thought to myself, Wow, I can't believe it's my last day of summer before going into my senior year of high school. I wondered if senior year would be like the others. In the sense of making new friends or maybe even stepping out of my comfort zone on some occasions.
I was pulled out of my daze when my brother Jordan started banging on the bathroom door. "For the love of god Penelope, hurry up I'm going to be late to Luke's house!" He yelled.
I rolled my eyes and quickly opened the door, "I'm done let me just get my shoes and keys so I can drive you." I smiled at him as I quickly moved out of the way so my brother would stop harassing me.
"Ugh finally, I thought I would have to ask Luke's brother to come and pick me up." My brother whined.
I rolled my eyes for the second time this morning, as much as I loved my brother sometimes his morning person personality clashed with my natural night owl being. "Well then ask him for a ride if I take so long," I sarcastically stated. I turned around and walked to my room.
"Come on, Penny you know I didn't mean it." My brother followed me to my room. "Please you're the best driver in the world." He pleaded as he began his attempts to convince me to drive him to his friend's house. He walked out of my room and started walking to the stairs.
I laughed as I rummaged my sock drawer for a pair of Nike socks, I picked up my crocs from my closet floor. "Yes, yes I'm aware of the fact I'm fantastic!" I yelled back, as I grabbed my phone off my desk and started walking out of my room.
"Penny your lacrosse bag!" My brother reminded me as he walked downstairs. He tripped on a step and caught himself on the railing. I heard him enter the kitchen, "Mom I almost died walking down the stairs."
I chuckled at his stupidity. I walked back into my room and picked up the bag from where I had left it earlier. I made my way down the stairs making sure not to fall. I would never hear the end of it from Jordan if I fell.
I walked into the kitchen my bag in my right hand and my phone in my left. "Hi mom good morning," I walked over to my mother and kissed her on the cheek.
"Hey, honey how did you sleep?" My mother asked. She finished loading the dishwasher with my brother's dirty plate.
My phone went off. "It was fine," I said as I checked my phone.
