'Im so fucking glad I'm staying at mom's house for two weeks, I'm so fucking glad you're going on vacation and I'm also so fucking glad I don't have to be in this shitty house for two weeks.' I yelled at my dad.

'Excuse you  Aurora Henderson! Don't be fucking rude to me, I am your dad after all.'

'I wish you weren't.'

I saw the fury in his eyes grow as he heard those words coming from my mouth. Rage flowed trough his body like a red mess had taken over him. He slammed his fist against the table, trying not to lose control. I flinched. I haven't made my dad this angry before. It was a shitty thing to say, I can admit that, but he deserved it. I wanted to be like him when I was younger, he was such an great example to me, not knowing all the shit he had done. He began throwing things towards me and I tried to avoid it. Fear growing inside of me, my whole body filling with adrenaline. Fear felt like thousands of needles pricking my spine, whilst gasping for air.

It hit me.

A velvet river poured from it's source, staining all it touched with unthinkable pain. Blood is a thick, maroon river that flowed effortlessly down the side of my head. A sharp, electric pain shot trough my body as my fingers touched the aching spot on my head. My eyes getting blurry as I saw my fingers trembing with red liquid all over them. My eyesight trying to find the presence of my dad when my ears picked up the sound of a car driving away from our front door.

Resembling the remnants of some long-gone city, the graveyard was dark, empty and littered with crumbling, unloved graves for crumbling, unloved people. Regret filled my eyes as I was staring at my dad's name on the grave. My heart was hurting as if I had been stabbed. Why did I say that? The guilt was weighing me down. I wished I could have turned back the time. Water started to collect at the bottom lid of my eye and my lip began to tremble. A giant wave of sadness, guilt and grief crashed into me which felt like a prison with no escape. My heart was a shattered piece of glass.

'I love you. I have always loved you.' I whispered to the letters on the grave which couldn't talk back. I wished I had actually said those words to my dad, looking in his soothing eyes, filled with the strength of an oak. I wished I could take back the words that came flying from my mouth when rage took over my body. Even if my dad sometimes lost it, he was family after all. At last the pain was finally over and his mind was at peace.

The chirping of birds drew my attention and I lifted my head to look at the night sky. It was like a dark canvas freckled with a million droplets of white paint. It was exacty 48 hours since I got a phone call saying they found my dad's car with his body in the river.  It was exactly 48 hours since my dad's presence left this world. Death is a timer counting down the hours left to live. It freaks people out not knowing  what will happen to them when they pass but in reality you won't know.

I sunk deeper into the ground with each step I made, or at least that's what it felt like, my muscles almost failing to keep my body upright. I was stumbling to my car, tears still streaming down my cheeks. I was crying uncontrollably and my tears felt heavier than ever. I could barely open my car door, I lost all my strength. When I finally succeeded to open it, I drove to my mom's house. Turns out I wasn't staying for only 2 weeks, but forever.

'Goodmorning sweetie.' My ears picked up the sound of a calm, sweet voice as I heard a soft knock on my bedroom door.

My pupils filled with light as I slowly opened my eyes. My mom was standing in the doorframe with a plate of pancakes in her hand. My eyes were still blood-shot from crying myself to sleep and she could tell.

'Are you okay?'

I blinked and gave her a small nod. She walked towards me, putting the plate on my nightstand and gave me a warm hug. I missed my mom's hugs, I always felt so safe in her arms. She pulled back from the hug and looked at me with concern. Her eyes were the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen, they were like sweet, shining sapphires perched elegantly.

'I'm glad you're here, I missed you, dear. Did you get any sleep?'

I nod again, taking the plate from my nightstand and grabbing the fork that was next to the pancakes. I cut off a piece with the side of my fork and put it in my mouth. The sweetness of the pancake filled my taste buds. I saw my mom smiling at me and walking out of my room.

It was the first time in a couple weeks that I was at my mom's house again. When my parents got a divorce, my dad got custody of me and we both don't know how that could've happened. I could only see my mom and my little brother during the holidays. Dustin has a different dad than me, but Dustin's dad also isn't around anymore. He left them when he was only four years old and that shows that he is an asshole just like my dad.

'Aurora.' I immediately regocnized Dustin's voice and he ran towards me, wrapping his arms around me and welcoming me with a big hug. Dustin deserves the world, he is the sweetest boy ever. 'Aurora, I-uh, actually got a question for you.' I tilted my head to the right, wondering what he was about to ask.

'What is it dusty-bun?' I mocked him. He rolled his eyes but let out a chuckle shortly after that.

'Do you still know how to play D&D?'

'I actually expected a 'how are you Aurora?' or a 'I missed you, did you miss me?'' I said, laughing at the random question. I saw his expression change from happy to guilty and he apologized immediately. 'It's okay, but yeah I think I do. Why?'

'We were supposed to play the campaign tonight, but Lucas- wait you know who Lucas is right?' I nod. 'Okay yeah so, he can't make it tonight and we really, really need someone to fill in for him. Can you please help us out.' He pleaded, looking at me with puppy eyes and clapping his hands together, practically praying for me to play D&D with his little club.

'Sure. I haven't played D&D in a while though.' I answer. His eyes grew and a warm smile painted across his face the moment I said sure and he cheered happily, jumping in the air.

'I'm going to tell Eddie right away!' He said, happiness filling his voice.

'Eddie?' I cocked my head. 'Who the fuck is Eddie?"
