Luna was crying so bad she could hardly speak, I found it sad that no one even thought of trying to help her. Her leg was cut up pretty bad, but I dont think it was pain that was afflicting her, nothing ever made her flinch or wilt in pain. I try to comfort her how I can but I was never the loving kind, caring sure, but not loving.
"M-my sister...." She chokes up
"It's alright..."i just I ease her
"I couldn't protect her...I-she's gone, I lost her." She said, I didn't know if that meant she died or disappeared. But I needed to calm her down first.
We sat there for what seemed hours, however though I knew that this was no different than being on a warfront where minutes became hours and you just prayed for it to be over. Throughout the year I lost Faith along with a lot of comrades, the war we were all in took everything from me and most days I wish that either A; there was a reason to fight again or B; that the previous war took my life along with everything else.
Luna looked up at me through tear-stained red eyes, she didn't say a word but I knew what she was thinking."be brave WolfMother." I say as pat her shoulder. She relaxed after awhile of sitting there and fell asleep. Maya should be at the shelter too, though they likely kept her at the hospital's shelter. That worried me simply because their shelter was no different than a basement with weak walls and wooden door. If these rioteers decided to massacre the hospitals, very little would stop their pursuit.
A while longer passed and the P.A speakers crackled to life saying they have contained the riot and to return to our homes for a home inspection and questioning. I grew angered. They would interrogate us but they won't hassle any of the riot member. I helped Luna to her feet,"It's time to go home." she nodded shakily, whatever shook her up must've been devastating. Everyone walked out to find their homes either destroyed or intact.
Luna no longer had a home, just a pile of rubble. She felt better when I let her stay at my house, waiting for the local police to say they found survivors in the fallen house, living or dead. Maya was released from the hospital 2 weeks later and she was good as new, least i hoped.
2 weeks had passed and Luna's was found dead where she slept. Luna had muscled passed her loss, we all had a bigger pain to fight through: the incursion has destroyed an abundance of crops and food.
I awoke from another nightmare, it was eleven a.m, i decided to go out again for Market Day. No happy children woke me up nor did they happily run down the halls, even they knew that this island was facing a famine and tension was high. It suprised me that it only took a moderate crop destruction to plummet the island into crisis...
