I walk out of my apartment, Luna was sound asleep. I carried my knife, wallet and bag the same as always. My glasses were dusty and had cuts across them which agitated and obscured my vision.

Outside was not like the days before, people were staying inside and had the look of fear in their eyes. Birds were chirping a sadder tune.

Winter was coming and soon we were going to lose our reserve stock of food. Mainly due to a supposive denial of seeds and crops from neighboring American islands. Then less supplies would be distributed and all Hell would be let lose and people would go out killing each other.

Our island was always struggling to get supplies, our "President" or "Overseer" was more like a monarch, thankfully the Neo Congress kept his actions in line....

I was about a mile from South Port, where market day was moved and where i could find some medical supplies at better rates. I streets were still messy with blood and rubble. The smell of blood coated the air and i felt like i was on the battlefield again, i felt like there was meaning again, like there was something to win.

I heard people talking like they owned the island, the kind of people you cant help but hate. They wanted a rebellion, to start a new time in Atticari. But they probably couldnt find their way around they're house much less start a war.

I walked past East Port, they were crowds upon crowds of people that I seen cheering and yelling as I strode from above. There were several men talking to their superiors and some Authority enforcers. It hit me as soon as I seen them load the boat; they were going to go on a Run. They were going to go to the mainlands to find supplies before winter...

---- -----

Luna woke, drenched in a cold sweat. She was shivering from another nightmare that plagued her ever since we were drafted into the war. She found a note tied to her wrist saying that I went out. Luna was clad in nothing but her flesh, it was reminder of how many scars she got from her many battles both on and off the battle. Every time she looked at herself: she saw a warrior, not a man nor a woman.

Luna untied the note from her wrist and stumbled to the shower, the dream kept playing in her mind and making her sick. Tears fell from her eyes and she begged forgiveness from her sister's spirit as hot water fell from her face.

--- ----

I turned the broken door knob of my apartment as it wobbled and creeked and i stepped in. Luna greeted me with bloodshot eyes and I set my bag down by a chair and sat down.
"So...what has you down?" i said looking in her eyes
"I had another dream. My sister was in it.." she looked like she had a bad sleep

"You dont have to say anymore Luna." i embraced her and started to unpack. I gave some painkillers for her leg along with some bandages. I loaded the rest in a cabinate and tried to hide packing some of the things she wouldnt be happy seeing.

When i was done I laid the bag down beside my bed. My head started to ache badly and i sat down. Luna asked if i was alright and i lied saying i was only worried about Maya. But the truth was much more bothersome and shaming. I close my eyes and say that i just need to rest. I hear the front door close and i suspect luna was going to see some old friends.

I open my eyes slightly to see if she was really gone. I get up and walk over to the counter where I hide the bottle of pills and I took them out and read the label. It read,PZ-3/P.S, it was my painkillers. Blackmarket's finest homemade body numbing beauties. I took them down with a bottle of Sake i hide behind the cabinet. They took their effect immediately and i felt a wave of shame pass over me and i sit back down on the chair. I fell asleep a few minutes later, the hallucinations they gave me were of being on the battlefield again. The screaming...the gunfire....the mortars....it was beautiful.
