"Do you have to go Em" Lucas says looking very sad. "Honestly no but I'd rather live anywhere than this hick town" Emariah says trying to make light of the situation. The truth is she really didn't have to leave but her parents wanted to raise a Harvard graduate and she wasn't that. "I'm gonna miss you" He says hugging his sister like she was going to die. "I'm gonna miss you too Lucas" She smiles at her sad little brother. "Well I guess I should go now" She smiles about to get in the car.
"EMARIAH" She hears several very familiar voices yell. "Oh, you guys are going to make me cry" She says her eyes watering. Standing in front of her were Lucas's best friends Mike, Dustin, and Will with Nancy and Jonathan standing behind them. And Joyce and Jim hopper were there too. "Ok, Mike be good ok, and remember that secret I told you" She says whispering the last part. He quickly nods. "When I come back to visit tell me again so I know you remember" She smiles. She has always known Mike had a little crush on her.
"Dustin Dustin Dustin" She laughs at him grinning with no front teeth. "Once those teeth grow in you will have all the ladies" She says ruffling his curly hair. "And will be yourself no matter whose looking ok" Emariah smiles down at them. "Ok ya'll give me a hug now" She laughs and all the little kids rush towards her almost knocking her down. "Nancy you can hold down the fort without me right" Emariah giggles. "You know I'll try" She says hugging her close friend.
"Jonathan they are going to officially always be at your house now" Emariah says looking at her shy friend. "Yeah, I'm just realizing that" He says letting out a small laugh. "Don't let anything happen to my D&D boys" She smiles. "I won't I promise" He says hugging her. "Well, I guess I have to find the boys a new babysitter now" Joyce says smiling at Emariah. "Maybe when I come back I'll take them to the pool or something to give you guys a break.
"Please do" Joyce smiles hugging Emariah as tight as she can. "You stay out of trouble little lady" Jim says. "You know I won't" She says hugging Jim. He has been a better dad than her actual dad could imagine. "Ok ok, I'm leaving now" Emariah says getting in the car. "Ok, little lady let's roll" Grandma Lore says with a loud laugh. "Hit the road Jack" Blaring from the radio.
1 year later 1975 "Grandma I'm going to the beach" Emariah yells. "You know what time to be back by and don't go drowning" Her grandma responds still on the couch. As Emariah walked down to the beach and sat on the sand she saw a boy with blonde hair and blue eyes surfing. She watched him look the same age as her. "Do you know how to surfer" He asks walking towards her. She quickly shook her head. "Can I teach you" He asks smiling.
"I don't see why not although I'm not the best swimmer" Emariah laughs. "We are on a beach and your not the best swimmer" He smiled. "Well I wasn't born near much water" Emariah laughs. "Where were you born then" He asks looking down. "Hawkins, Indiana" Emariah says smiling back. "Is it bad I don't know where that is" He says nervously. "Nope, not many people do" Emariah giggles at his nervousness. "I'm William by the way but everyone calls me Billy" He says holding his hand out for Emariah to shake. "I'm Emariah but my friends call me Em or Riah" She says shaking his hand. "Well it's nice to meet you Riah" He says giving her a bright smile. "Jesus Christ Billy I thought you had drowned" A pretty blonde lady says. "Is he bothering you sweetheart" The blonde lady asks. "No ma'am" Emariah says shaking her head. "Come on Billy your dad's going to be waiting for you" She says grabbing his hand. "Bye Riah" He smiles walking away. "Bye Billy" She says looking down.
