After getting their schedules from the office, they were told to wait in the hall for a student ambassador to meet with them to show them where there classes would be. Probably to do the doing of Seth, they both had the same classes at the same time which put Justin more at ease with their situation. They were still looking at their schedules when the ambassador they were waiting for showed up. “Jade?”
Jade looked up at her name and felt the surprise go through her. “Christian.”
“The guy from the library?”
“Yeah, the twin of the last guy to go missing.”
“Explains why he looks so familiar.”
“What are you doing here?” Christian asked suspiciously.
“Um, going to school,” Jade said, trying to seem normal.
“I thought you were trying to figure out what was going on in town,” Christian said. “Why are you here?”
“What better way to figure it out then to be where they all have in common?” Jade said. “But I kind of need you to not talk about what I told you before, okay?”
“Why not?”
“Because no one should know about it,” Justin said. “It makes it hard to figure something out when someone knows what you're looking for.”
“And who are you?” Christian asked him, looking at him for the first time.
“My brother,” Jade said quickly, looking at Justin pointedly. “We're both here for the same reason and we need you to keep it quiet okay? As soon as we're done getting what we can from here, we're gone.”
Christian looked at them both oddly and then sighed. “Whatever,” he said. “I won't tell anyone what I know, I guess. But I need you to do something for me in return.”
“You want to know what we figure out,” Justin said knowingly.
“My brother is missing too,” Christian nodded. “I said I didn't care about where he was but... he's my brother. I don't know what happened but I know it wasn't him and I just want to find him and figure out what's happening.”
“And what if it's not what you were expecting?” Justin asked. “What if it's something that no one would believe anyway? Would you be able to accept it?”
“What do you mean?” Christian asked, eyes narrowed in confusion.
“Nothing,” Jade told him, glaring at Justin. “He just likes to mess with people. Ignore him; the rest of us do.” Justin shrugged noncommittally and Jade looked back at Christian. “If we find anything you need to know about, I'll let you know myself. Right now though we should probably get to class.”
“Right,” Christian nodded, holding his hand out to Jade. “Let me see your schedule.”
“We both have the same classes,” Jade said, handing over the paper for Christian to see. Christian looked over it for a minute and then nodded as he handed it back.
“Great, we have all the same classes,” he said, smiling at Jade as though Justin didn't exist.
“Yay. Super,” Justin said sarcastically as he and Jade followed Christian to their first class of the day.
